WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

CertainTeed Insulation is seeking a motivated and analytical Quality Engineer to join our Ottawa manufacturing facility. This role is ideal for an engineering professional who is passionate about quality, continuous improvement, and driving operational excellence in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

As a Quality Engineer, you will play a key role in improving product quality, optimizing manufacturing processes, and supporting plant-wide quality initiatives. You will collaborate closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and other cross-functional teams to ensure our products meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and customer satisfaction.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and manage quality and process improvement projects across manufacturing operations.
  • Maintain and support the Quality Management System (QMS), including audits, document control, corrective actions, and supplier quality records.
  • Analyze Statistical Process Control (SPC) and quality performance data to identify trends and reduce process variation.
  • Establish, monitor, and report key quality and operational performance metrics.
  • Investigate quality concerns, customer complaints, and process deviations using structured root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Develop and maintain quality standards, control plans, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Provide quality training, coaching, and technical support to production teams.
  • Perform and oversee product testing, inspections, and evaluations to ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Support new product introductions, product changes, and process validation activities.
  • Participate in World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare and present quality performance reports and project updates to plant leadership.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, quality, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Demonstrated commitment to health and safety standards.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Operational Excellence initiatives.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. 

Preferred

  • Experience with Quality Management Systems and quality engineering principles.
  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) tools and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Experience working in a continuous manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to World Class Manufacturing (WCM) or similar continuous improvement frameworks.

What we offer…

Certain provinces require pay information be provided in job postings. The national pay range for this position is 80 500$ to 102 000$ per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 10% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The total target cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is 88 550$ to 112 200$
