The Role

Solar Gard is a global leader in patent-protected film technologies for solar control and surface protection across the automotive, residential and commercial industries. As the Performance Film Solutions Division of the global glass and building technology icon Saint-Gobain – a company whose 360-year legacy originated with the Hall of Mirrors in Paris’ Palace of Versailles – Solar Gard builds upon decades of work to offer proprietary solar control and safety film solutions.  The company’s product portfolio delivers unmatched results in enhancing and protecting vehicles, homes and buildings, and most importantly, the passengers, residents and tenants inside. 

We are seeking a dynamic Business Manager to lead our Solar Gard Americas business strategy and drive sustainable growth across sales, profitability, quality, customer experience, innovation, and operational excellence.  The role is based at our San Diego facility and reports to the General Manager, Performance Film Solutions.

As Business Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and execute strategic plans, budgets, and market growth initiatives.  Develop Market Strategy and support business plans for worldwide interaction.
  • Lead business performance with responsibility for sales, margin, profit, and growth objectives.
  • Drive business development, strategic partnerships, and market expansion opportunities.  Develop and implement tactical plans based on the market strategy.
  • Lead and develop high performing teams across sales, service centers, marketing, product management, customer service, and distribution.  Aligning organizational resources to best support market penetration, sales growth and increased profitability. 
  • Champion an exceptional customer experience through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with Product Management and R&D to align innovation and product development with market needs.
  • Manage product portfolio performance, pricing strategies, and profitability.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration to support commercial success and operational excellence.
  • Drive sustainability initiatives (e.g. Life Cycle Analysis) and identify emerging market opportunities.
  • Develop Application, Technical Services and Support platforms to service current and develop future business.

IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related technical field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of management experience in manufacturing environments, including high-performance materials and growth-focused markets.
  • 10+ years of experience in B2C marketing, business growth, consumer products, or brand management.
  • Proven leadership experience in a commercial, business management, or general management role.
  • Strong strategic, financial, and analytical capabilities, including P&L management.
  • Experience leading multifunctional teams in a growth-focused environment.
  • Ability to translate strategy into measurable business results.
  • Track record of driving business growth, operational excellence, and customer-focused results.  
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive aftermarket distribution channels and OEM/aftermarket parts markets preferred.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Proficient in digital sales and business tools; Salesforce experience preferred.
  • Understanding of film product manufacturing processes and production workflows.

Certain states require pay information to be provided in job postings. Saint-Gobain aims to deliver a comprehensive Total Rewards package to support our employees' well-being and help improve daily life for themselves and their families. We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates and provide the national pay range for this position, which is $165,500 to $264,500 per year. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
 
In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 24% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position is $205,220 - $327,980. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and, by nature, can vary based on company and individual performance and are not a guarantee.
