As an Automation Engineer I, you will work alongside experienced engineering professionals to support automation, controls, and process improvement initiatives that drive plant performance.

Key Areas of Focus & Core Responsibilities
Automation & Technical Support
- Support troubleshooting of automation, instrumentation, electrical, and process control systems.
- Assist in identifying and reducing equipment downtime and process variation.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and Focus Improvement Teams.
- Support root cause analysis efforts and corrective action implementation.
- Assist with autonomous maintenance activities and operator support.
- Maintain and update technical documentation including P&IDs, wiring diagrams, flow charts, and data sheets.
Controls & Engineering Projects
- Support automation and process control projects from planning through implementation.
- Assist with the design, modification, testing, and commissioning of control systems.
- Perform basic PLC and HMI programming under guidance of senior engineers.
- Support plant automation systems including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, instrumentation, and industrial networks.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, contractors, and vendors to execute projects safely and effectively.
- Collect and analyze operational data to support improvement opportunities and project justifications.
Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence
- Support World Class Manufacturing (WCM) initiatives and TPM activities.
- Analyze process performance data to identify opportunities for increased efficiency and reliability.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of SOPs and work instructions.
- Maintain automation-related information within the CMMS system.
- Support standardization, documentation, and process optimization efforts across the plant.
Professional Development
- Build technical expertise in industrial automation, controls, and manufacturing processes.
- Develop troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills through hands-on experience.
- Learn and apply engineering standards, electrical codes, and safe work practices.
- Progressively expand responsibility and technical independence as knowledge and experience grow.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 0–3 years of experience in industrial manufacturing, automation, instrumentation, or PLC controls.
- Knowledge of PLCs, HMIs/SCADA systems, VFDs, instrumentation, and industrial networks.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and system diagrams.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred
- Experience with Rockwell, Siemens, Honeywell, PILZ, or similar automation platforms is a plus.
- AutoCAD Electrical experience preferred.
