Our Saint-Gobain, Poestenkill, NY plant is looking for a Production Extrusion Operator - 2nd shift to join their team!

2nd shift 1:30 PM – 10:00 PM

Hourly Rate: $18-$24/hr + $1/hr shift differential 

The Production Extrusion Operator is primarily responsible for the safe, efficient operation of production machinery to produce quality products within specifications and according to customer requirements. As with all positions at SGPPL Poestenkill, this employee will follow all workplace practices, policies and procedures.

Essential Functions and Related

Responsibilities

The Production Extrusion Operator is responsible for the expert operation of one extrusion process, including the associated Roll Mill and Priming Station, in accordance with customer requirements and internal product specifications. This includes operating extrusion equipment, processing compounds mixed through milling operations, and applying film priming processes in compliance with established work instructions, customer specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. (50%)

The Production Extrusion Operator accurately completes all required quality, inventory, and manufacturing documentation to ensure production records are complete, accurate, and compliant with internal procedures. (10%)

The Production Extrusion Operator performs basic in-process quality inspections in accordance with current Quality procedures and guidelines to verify products meet established specifications and customer requirements. (10%)

The Production Extrusion Operator ensures a smooth transition between shifts by effectively communicating operating instructions, production status, process concerns, equipment issues, and other pertinent information through established World Class Manufacturing (WCM) standards. The operator also serves as a training resource for new and entry-level Operators as needed. (10%)

The Production Extrusion Operator diligently supports and follows all Saint-Gobain Poestenkill Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) requirements and actively participates in 5S activities to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment. (10%)

As business needs and workload requirements allow, the Production Extrusion Operator may provide support to other manufacturing areas and perform additional duties as assigned to support overall operational objectives. (10%)

This Operator has mastered the skills to 1 Extrusion machine as well as associated milling and priming operations. He/she is considered an expert resource on these processes and will actively participate in area WCM and 5S projects and be a training resource as needed.

As with all positions at SGPPL Poestenkill, this employee will follow all work practices, policies and procedures keep the facility in compliance with the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001 Standards as well as maintain standard 5S protocols. Compliance with all site EHS policies and safe work habits are mandated at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS
 
Qualifications and Requirements
 
Education: A High School Diploma or GED is required.
 
Licenses and Certifications: No licenses or certifications are required for this position.
 
Work Experience: Prior manufacturing and/or assembly experience with demonstrated success working in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
 
Quality and Safety Expectations: The Production Extrusion Operator is expected to understand and comply with all quality and safety policies, complete all required training, and consistently follow established quality and safety procedures. 
 
The incumbent is responsible for immediately reporting unsafe conditions, behaviors, or quality concerns, actively participating in corrective actions, supporting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, and adhering to the principles of data integrity.
 
Practical, Technical, and Digital Knowledge: The Production Extrusion Operator must be able to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions in English. The ability to read and interpret work orders, manufacturing instructions, and product specifications is required. The role requires the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize work effectively, and maintain accurate production, quality, and inventory records in accordance with site procedures.
 
Leadership and Communication Skills: The Production Extrusion Operator must be able to communicate effectively with team members using both verbal and written methods. The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, provide constructive feedback, and contribute positively to the work environment is required.
 
Travel Requirements: No travel is required for this position.

The local pay range for this position is $18.90 to $25.20 per hour, plus a $1.00/hour shift premium. Actual pay may vary based on location, internal equity, and qualifications.

This is a 2nd shift role: 1:30 PM – 10:00 PM.

This position is also eligible for periodic or annual bonuses, with a target up to 10% of hourly pay based on company and individual performance. Total annual target cash (base pay plus bonus, annualized at 40 hrs/week) is approximately $1,000–$10,000. Bonus amounts vary and are not guaranteed.
