The Manufacturing Institute recognizes Regan Gallo’s accomplishments in an effort to raise awareness of careers for women in manufacturing.
Malvern, Pa., March 1, 2016 – Saint-Gobain, one of the world’s largest building materials companies, announces The Manufacturing Institute is recognizing Regan Gallo, Director of Operations-Roofing at its North American construction materials subsidiary CertainTeed Corporation, with the Women in Manufacturing STEP (Science, Technology, Engineering and Production) Ahead Award. The STEP Ahead Awards honor women who have demonstrated excellence and leadership in their careers and represent all levels of the manufacturing industry, from the factory floor to the C-suite. The STEP Ahead Awards are part of a larger initiative aimed at promoting the role of women in the manufacturing industry through attraction, development, advancement and retention of high-potential female talent.
“The manufacturing industry faces a skills gap, and contributing to this gap is the fact that women are underrepresented in the industry,” said John Crowe, president and CEO of Saint-Gobain and CertainTeed Corporations. “Through our company initiatives, Saint-Gobain is encouraging women to pursue careers in the industry and helping them develop the skills they need to advance. We’re proud to see one of our leaders and mentors for women recognized as a role model in the manufacturing industry.”
Gallo, who received a B.S. in chemical engineering from Lafayette College and an MBA from Lehigh University, began her career with Saint-Gobain in the role of process engineer and soon after took on her first management role in customer service while simultaneously supporting operations in the role of product manager. She later moved into the role of plant manager in Bridgewater and Mickleton, N.J. During this time, Gallo was part of the team that renovated the process flow and layout of the Bridgewater plant, which improved efficiencies in work flow, eliminated excess inventory and improved lead time and on-time delivery. As a result of her hard work and leadership efforts, Gallo secured the position of director of operations for all of Process Systems. Her team’s operational vision for manufacturing in Process Systems has been incorporated into all of Saint-Gobain’s locations throughout the United States.
Beyond her daily job responsibilities, Gallo has acted as an official mentor for the Saint-Gobain Mentoring Program and has been responsible for the career development of the Process Systems plant managers. Gallo is actively involved in Saint-Gobain’s community service and diversity efforts through the company’s Women’s Network and through its national partnership with YouthBuild USA, which provides at-risk youth the opportunity to transform their lives while working on community-based construction projects.
Jennifer McNelly, president of The Manufacturing Institute said, “These 130 women are the exciting faces in manufacturing. We chose to honor these women because they each made significant achievements in manufacturing and a positive impact on their company and the industry as a whole.”
On April 21, The Manufacturing Institute will recognize 130 recipients of the STEP Ahead Awards at a reception in Washington, D.C. The STEP Ahead Awards program will highlight each honoree’s story, including leadership and accomplishments in manufacturing.
