Mississauga, ON – Wednesday, June 18, 2025 – Saint-Gobain Canada is proud to announce today the renewal of its meaningful partnership with Habitat for Humanity Canada for a fourth consecutive year. Through this national partnership valued at $300,000 CAD, Saint-Gobain Canada will support Habitat’s work with direct grants provided by the Saint-Gobain North America Foundation for its programs, including the Indigenous Housing Partnership, and in-kind donations of its products made in Canada to offer high quality and sustainable solutions for Habitat’s build projects and volunteering hours across Canada for Habitat Build Days and ReStore Engagement Days.
“Our partnership with Habitat for Humanity Canada is deeply aligned with our purpose at Saint-Gobain of Making the World a Better Home,” says Jean-Claude Lasserre, CEO, Saint-Gobain Canada. “Through this collaboration, we aim to help expand access to safe, sustainable, and affordable housing for all Canadians. The impact over the past four years—supporting families, empowering communities, and engaging our teams across the country—resonates deeply with our values in action and is a source of immense pride for everyone at Saint-Gobain Canada.”
Since the beginning of this partnership, Saint-Gobain has helped enable positive outcomes in the many communities across the country, including:
- Helping to provide skills training experience for 600 high school students.
- Helping over 610 families move into new Habitat homes across Canada through product and cash donations, and build site volunteers.
- Saint-Gobain employees contributing to 1,125 volunteer hours on Habitat build sites in Burnaby, Calgary, Winnipeg, Burlington, Mississauga, Toronto, Oshawa, and Montreal.
- Through Saint-Gobain product donations ensuring that Habitat homes are built with high quality materials.
- Supporting the Habitat Canada national sustainability program that helps to offset the additional costs associated with incorporating sustainable and energy efficient materials into Habitat homes, improving the energy efficiency and longevity of Habitat homes, and lowering energy and maintenance costs for the homeowner.
- Supporting Habitat Canada's Indigenous Housing Partnership to help improve access to safe, decent, and affordable housing for Indigenous families living on and off Traditional territories across Canada.
“Thanks to the generosity of partners like Saint-Gobain we are bringing homeownership within reach for more families in Canada,” said Pedro Barata, President & CEO, Habitat for Humanity Canada. “We are gratified to know that Saint-Gobain shares our belief that a safe and affordable home is the foundation for good health, new opportunity and positive change in families’ lives.”
Build Change, Saint-Gobain’s philanthropy philosophy
At the core of Saint-Gobain’s purpose, the Group strives every day in Making the World a Better Home. This higher mission also comes to life through its Build Change program, which brings together all the sponsorship and philanthropy efforts worldwide in support of sustainable construction.
The Habitat for Humanity Canada partnership is deeply rooted in Build Change’s three pillars:
- Supporting access to decent, sustainable housing, by facilitating housing construction and renovation projects, including in emergency situations, facilitating access to more sustainable housing through financial aid and donations of materials, but also through skills sponsorship, and by encouraging research into new techniques and materials to develop access to more energy-efficient housing.
- Acting for more responsible and sustainable communities, by supporting sustainable infrastructure projects, helping communities build resilience in the face of climate change, and promoting sustainable architecture, circularity and the reuse and recycling of materials on construction sites.
- Shaping the next generation of sustainable builders, by encouraging the training of young people, women, and entrepreneurs in the building and sustainable construction trades, by supporting the integration of disadvantaged or excluded populations into the professional world of building, and by promoting the building and construction trades to new generations.
