Saint-Gobain Premieres Philly Rising Documentary Featuring Key City and Sustainability Leaders at Second Annual Philadelphia Environmental Film Festival

One of the world’s largest building materials companies and manufacturer of innovative material solutions will challenge Philadelphians to spur sustainable economic growth

Malvern, Pa., April 6, 2018Saint-Gobain, one of the world’s largest building materials companies and manufacturer of innovative material solutions, will premiere its documentary Philly Rising this weekend at the second annual Philadelphia Environmental Film Festival held April 6-8 at the Prince Theater (1412 Chestnut St.). The documentary, featuring key city and sustainability leaders, will be followed by a panel discussion about the sustainable economy and how Philadelphia can help spur sustainable economic growth and empower local communities to create positive change.

“There is an underlying energy in this city and after decades of decline, Philadelphia is experiencing an incredible amount of sustainable development, aligned with our company’s mission of creating a healthier life for future generations,” said Carmen Ferrigno, Vice President of Communications at Saint-Gobain and Executive Director of the Saint-Gobain Corporation Foundation. “As a strategic partner of the city’s sustainable development efforts, we wanted to create this documentary to capture the people, projects and neighborhoods that are contributing to this vital transformation while empowering Philadelphia to help create sustainable change.”

Moderated by Ferrigno, the 30-minute panel will feature Michael DiBerardinis, Managing Director of the City of Philadelphia; Kathryn Ott Lovell, Commissioner of Philadelphia Parks & Recreation; Richard Maimon, Partner at KieranTimberlake; Julie Ulrich, Director of Urban Conservation at The Nature Conservancy; and John Connor, Director of Philly Rising.

The documentary, which will run as part of the festival’s Regional Film Program (Block 3) on Saturday, April 7 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., explores the rise of Philadelphia through the projects and partnerships between city government and local businesses. The film highlights the wave of influencers driving advancement across the city, as well as sustainable development efforts, many of which Saint-Gobain has had a key role in, including  Philadelphia’s LOVE Park, the Platinum Corridor and Nicetown Community Development Corporation’s revitalization efforts.
