What’s the Job?

Utilizing World Class Manufacturing (WCM) principles, the Process Champion supports the execution of the process improvement strategy for the Insulation Sites by ensuring assimilation and integration of known process knowledge, engineering principles and best practice equipment enabling capable operations. Key areas include: product formulation, process development and optimization, equipment design and optimization, general project engineering, and trial planning and execution.

This role is also the primary trainer for plant process engineers building process expertise at the sites.

This position is based at the Kansas City, KS plant and is a 50% travel role supporting other CertainTeed insulation plants.

Essential Duties

Safety & Environment

  • Continuously evaluates workplace for safety concerns and ensures behavioral safety initiatives are performed to goal levels.
  • Complies with all environmental standards, assures good housekeeping practices following 5S systems, enforces plant rules and safety regulations, and supports WCM initiatives.

General

  • Participates in different project teams which analyze process variations; develop solutions and implements corrective actions by using advanced statistical tools in identifying and resolving the root causes of the variations in the process.
  • Responsibilities include designing / developing new process systems, revising existing processes, and developing and coordinating the implementation of projects, which contribute substantially to plant profitability.
  • Responsible for safely and successfully executing projects, documenting, and with assistance from supervisor communicating progress and results through reports, presentations etc.
  • Develops and encourage innovative processes and equipment concepts along with follow through to Return on Investments’ (ROI) patents and / or proprietary intellectual property.
  • Closely partners with R&D and Engineering groups to ensure new process knowledge and equipment

Process Integration

  • Assists plants in execution of key projects as identified on the plant process route map.
  • Provides overall process leadership for sites by being technical experts in one or more areas of Insulation manufacturing by:
    • Ensuring process gaps to established best practice standards are identified at each site.
    • Recommending and aiding the plant in correcting process gaps and issues.
    • Working with site to establish clear process parameters leading to a more stable/capable manufacturing operation.
    • Providing process and quality-based engineering and maintenance advice to plant operating personnel
    • Providing trouble shooting expertise for process and equipment issues
  • Performing equipment studies to verify proper and efficient operation of major process equipment
  • Assists plants in ensuring process knowledge, operational settings and equipment quality maintenance is sustained via use of Step 0 and other WCM foundational systems.

Training & Education

  • Principal trainer for engineers and local trainers.
  • Support Training of operators and maintenance personnel as needed.

  • Works with the Advanced Manufacturing team to leverage data in all facets of Insulation Manufacturing.

IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Ceramic or Material Science Engineering or equivalent experience in similar industries is required
  • 5-7 years’ experience in insulation manufacturing in one or more of the following areas:
    • Batch
    • Furnace and forehearth
    • Binder
    • Fiberizing
  • Minitab experience preferred
  • Understanding of mass & energy balance, flow diagrams, Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), fluid properties and thermodynamics preferred
  • Excellent problem solving capabilities and the ability to work independently on assigned tasks
  • Flexible and open-minded with good written and oral communication.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to travel (up to 50%)

Preconstruction Manager - Project Management

The Preconstruction Manager manages a full Project Management team overseeing project managers and their processes.  The ideal candidate is an experienced professional with a background in a high project volume role with strong managerial experience.

The Preconstruction Manager role reports directly to the Director of Preconstruction, Metal & Felt and serves as a member of the Metal & Felt Preconstruction Services Leadership Team. The position has overall responsibility for directing a unified Customer Solutions strategy centrally and across assigned sites in the areas of project estimating, product design and project management.

  Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Ensure projects, departmental milestones and goals are met while adhering to internal processes and pricing models
  • Establish and maintain relationships with customers across varying industries
  • Must understand major domestic construction life cycles as well as division subcontractors
  • Previous experience in a production or manufacturing role is heavily preferred
  • Manage time and cost of project portfolio based on budget for area of scope
  • Contribute to defining overall vision for staffing requirements/roles within the department

Building Science Field Specialist - Region New England

Why do we need you?

Saint-Gobain is seeking a Building Science Field Specialist to join their Building Science organization the New England region . This is a remote role, however the candidate must be based in Massachusetts to effectively support the regional field activities.

This customer-facing role is designed for a hands-on building professional with a strong technical foundation in building science. The Specialist will work directly with builders and contractors in the field, providing training, technical support, and real-time problem-solving to advance resilient home construction practices.

This role bridges the gap between jobsite realities and business strategy, serving as a key conduit for field insights that inform product and system innovation, and contractor engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Field Engagement & Support

  • Partner with builders and contractors on active job sites to provide building science guidance and troubleshoot real-world challenges.
  • Collaborate with Territory Managers, Technical Services, and Contractor Engagement teams to deliver coordinated support to customers.

Training & Education

  • Conduct building science and resilience training programs across multiple modalities, including in-the-field, classroom, and online.
  • Deliver tailored education to contractors, builders, and architects, adapting content to regional needs and varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Work collaboratively with the architectural/specification community to educate, through CEU courses, and develop/update construction specifications to include building science and resilient construction best practices.

Customer-Centric Insight Gathering

  • Actively listen and observe on job sites, in meetings, and over calls to identify builder and contractor pain points.
  • Document and communicate field insights to internal teams to inform product and system innovation and contractor engagement programs.
  • Serve as a trusted technical resource for internal stakeholders, helping translate field realities into actionable strategies.

 

Is this job for you?

  • BS degree in Building Science, Architecture, Engineering, or related technical field with 5+ years of experience in residential construction, with hands-on field experience.
  • High school diploma with 15+ years of hands-on experience in residential construction
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 50% of the time across assigned region.

Required Skills

  • Strong technical understanding of residential construction practices, building science principles, especially related to the building envelope and resilience.
  • Technical knowledge of roofing and siding systems, waterproofing methods, general building practices, and residential building codes.
  • Proven ability to engage and build trust with builders, contractors, and architects.
  • Strong computer skills, including Powerpoint and Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver professional presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Certifications such as BPI, RESNET, HERS, LEED, or similar.

Benefits in joining us

Certain locations require pay information be provided in job postings. We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer potential candidates. Provided is the national pay range for this position, which is $92,000 to $142,000 per year. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 12% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $103,040 to $159,040. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.

The E&I Technician will utilize their skills and knowledge of electrical equipment, electronics, instrumentation, pneumatics, hydraulics, and rigging in our continuous paper manufacturing environment to safely help achieve production goals.

Job Duties:

Troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace electrical, electronic, and instrumentation devices.
Interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to troubleshoot and maintain process control systems.
Initiate and complete work orders and document all critical and or pertinent information on a routine basis.

What you need to succeed:


  • Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude required with extensive troubleshooting experience.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair mill-wide electrical power systems, working with AC and DC voltages ranging from 12, 24, and 500 VDC to 120/240, 480, 575, 2300, and AC.
  • Install and maintain electrical distribution equipment and components, working with electrical conductors, conduits, cable trays, power panels, and motor control centers.
  • Operational knowledge of automated industrial machinery including motors, solenoids, servos, pumps, drives, relays, 3-phase power, communication devices, industrial/electronic controls, and power transmission systems
  • Ability to install and set up both A/C drives.
  • Ability to install and troubleshoot basic 3-phase motor control circuits
  • Knowledge of the various types of flow, pressure, level, temperature sensors, and transmitters.
  • Working knowledge of control valves.
  • Various proximity, flow, pressure, and limit switches.
  • A good understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • PLC troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.

Maintenance Mechanic

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

The Maintenance Mechanic will support the Portland, OR, CertainTeed production line, manufacturer of asphalt roofing shingles. The mechanic will select and properly use all hand tools and stationary power tools, including power saws, welders, etc., as well as diagnose and repair most plant equipment (pumps, gear boxes, rollers, bearings, motors, conveyors, etc.).
