2nd: 3pm-11pm

Compensation: $36.34

Essential Functions:

  • Understand and follow proper LOTO procedures. Use proper LOTO when working on equipment
  • Must be able to start up the various pieces of equipment according to the Standard Operating Procedure
  • Must understand basic computer skills and ability to use a CMMS system.
  • Must have the ability to replace chains, all types of belts, and valves used in the plant.
  • Must have the ability to identify and replace bearings, sprockets, bushings, gearboxes, including lubrication requirements.
  • Must be able to perform preventive maintenance, plus lubrication on the production lines and support equipment as required, independent of other mechanics
  • Demonstrate ability to utilize math in fraction and decimals
  • Demonstrate knowledge of metric measuring systems
  • Demonstrate ability to proficiently operate powered hand tools
  • Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot or replace various types of pumps
  • Demonstrated the ability to troubleshoot or replace pneumatic systems
  • Demonstrate ability to fabricate from blueprints or sketches, various jigs, hangers, and safety guards
  • Demonstrate proficiency in welding
  • Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems
  • Perform the minimum requirements for maintenance safety initiatives
  • Able to work independently or with a team
  • Ability to work while wearing a respirator
  • Must be able to work 8 to 12 hours on his/her feet, lift 50 lbs. on a repeated basis over a normal workday, and climb ladders safely
  • Preferred knowledge to operate scissor lift, man lift, bobcat, and forklift
  • Maintain 5S of work area and equipment
  • Fill in for an absent or vacationing employee in the same role
  • Perform administrative duties when necessary

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Ensures operation of machinery, electrical, and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical and electrical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
  • Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and/or other measuring instruments.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
  • Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
  • Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
  • Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Provides mechanical and electrical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
  • Prepares mechanical and electrical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Troubleshoot/Diagnose 3-phase, up to 480V causes of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operation equipment, utilizing standard electronic test equipment while referencing technical drawings and documents
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Documents time through work orders and creates notification within SAP CMMS system
  • Uses Quick Kaizens to help with completing root cause analysis
  • Helps to create BOMs for equipment by creating equipment ledgers
  • Create and update documentation of all types: schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, assembly diagrams, maintenance logs, standard operating procedures, and instruction manuals, to keep documentation accurate, available and ready for use as needed.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED.
  • High School Education and/or AS or AAS Electrical/Electronic Technology Degree, Mechatronics, Industrial Technology or AS or BS in Electronics Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering Technology or
  • Five to ten (5-10) years of professional experience and knowledge in maintenance disciplines, such as automated control systems, safety qualifications, and professional industrial maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
  • Requires adaptability, methodical/analytical problem solving skills, and employee leadership skills with the ability to effectively apply these skills in a manufacturing facility.
  • Team player with good interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication skills to work effectively in corporate, manufacturing and team environments.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job includes tasks that require walking, bending, twisting, gripping, stair and ladder climbing, entering confined spaces, navigating rough terrain and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. and frequent lifting of up to 25 lbs.

  • Compile HR metrics (turn over, head count) analyzing, reporting and identifying emerging trends.

Training & Team engagement

  • Perpetuate a culture of high performance through effective leader coaching and feedback
  • Promotes a safe working environment, complies with proper use of PPE, understands applicable EHS programs (reporting incidents, and participates in functional department safety meetings.
  • Counsel site management team on the effective use of professional development plans, performance improvement plans, progressive discipline, and risk mitigated decisions.

Senior Process Engineer

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

As a Senior Process Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in driving process development, efficiency, and improvement initiatives.   Additionally, the incumbent is to act as technical advisor to manufacturing engineers, production supervision and marketing. You’ll utilize a multidiscipline, in-depth technical knowledge of engineering principles, theories, and concepts.   You will collaborate with both internal and external customers on cost-saving projects, capital expenditures, and troubleshooting. Your focus will be on taking a leading role for the site to optimizing material throughput, enhancing plant profitability, and refining manufacturing techniques, particularly in process robustness, coating technology, and material aspects such as yield, scrap, and material usage variance.  Additionally, you will manage various projects, develop preventative and predictive methods to minimize production delays, and ensure quality. This role also involves providing leadership in problem-solving, decision-making, coaching, and implementing site initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development: Lead the design and development of manufacturing processes, tooling, and engineering documentation for new products, ensuring they meet or exceed customer requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Recommend, initiate, and deliver projects aimed at improving production efficiency, equipment, and processes to achieve performance, quality, delivery, and financial goals.
  • Capital Expenditures: Prepare internal documentation and coordinate the implementation of capital expenditures.
  • World Class Manufacturing Projects: Lead projects from conception to implementation, including cost savings analysis, feasibility studies (DOE, data analysis), and project execution.
  • Process Optimization: Research and recommend changes to manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, reduce costs, improve product quality, and enhance health, safety, and environmental standards.

  • The incumbent is the technical expert for coating, laminating and converting processes and products, and must have the ability to effectively understand the various manufacturing processes in detail. The ability to work as part of a team and to lead a team to achieve goals is also essential.
  • Applies engineering principles and concepts from multiple disciplines to improve production; to develop and implement new processes; and to solve problems related to product and process quality, performance, and cost.  Must have manufacturing experience with various raw film materials (PET, TPU, HDPE, HIPS, etc), mixing, solvent coating/drying.
  • Performs statistical analysis of process variables and rejection rates, interprets data and leads resulting process and product improvement projects. Creates, implements, and oversees vital quality and process control procedures.
  • Participates in cost control programs and the standardization of processes and procedures. Frequently interacts with production personnel to evaluate and solve production problems and to advise on process capability and customer demands.
  • Works closely with Marketing, R&D and production management in developing and testing new products and processes before they are introduced into production. Coordinates the integration of prototype items and new materials into the manufacturing process.

Ensures adherence to the quality guidelines set forth in ISO9001.  Applies lean manufacturing concepts (SPC, 5S, Kaizen, 6sigma) toward improved material formulations, mix quality, product quality, process flow and equipment performance

Requirements:

  • This position requires the skills associated with a Master of Science Degree in Polymer Processing, Chemical or Mechanical engineering discipline with 5-7 years of experience, or the skills associated with a Bachelor of Science Degree and 10+ years of experience.
  • Strong analytical, statistical and root cause analysis skills a must
  • Experience with solvent mixing, coating, lamination, and converting processes and equipment is required.
  • Past experience with SPC and familiarity with 5S, Kaizen and Lean manufacturing principles strongly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills and the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization and with customers are necessary.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Powerpoint and any ERP and MES software is essential.

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Maintenance Manager designs and implements solutions and manages projects that support the plant in attaining safety, quality and production goals. 

The Maintenance Manager leads the repairs, installations, and upkeep of all process equipment.  Their main duties include planning and leading repairs, root cause analyses and designing maintenance procedures, tracking budgets and expenses and performing inspections on different equipment to find problems and make repairs.

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading a team of highly skilled engineers, mechanics and electricians to achieve world-class performance by use of personnel, material, and technical resources to optimize equipment and facility usage.  Will lead or participate on project teams focused on continuous improvement in a number of areas including production efficiency and quality.

Maintenance Leadership

  • Lead repairs and reduction of downtime to improve production output and product quality.
  • Create and implement a reliability strategy within the Maintenance Department.
  • Ensure equipment and personnel adhere to all Safety and Environmental requirements.
  • Develop multi-year plans to improve mechanical reliability to world class levels.
  • Is the plant subject matter expert in regards to preventive and predictive maintenance.
  • Partners with other Reliability Team members in order to develop plant preventative maintenance plans which multiple departments can help perform in order to accomplish goals and objectives.
  • Works with Plant Maintenance and Engineering Departments to develop predictive maintenance strategies to improve uptime with plant equipment and build in redundancy in critical areas.

Supervision of Maintenance Personnel

  • Leads the Maintenance Team in developing self-planning and execution process of daily, weekly and monthly PMs and work orders; ensuring proper prioritization; human resource and physical asset utilization.
  • Management of maintenance team to provide optimal support to meet production and quality requirements.
  • Provides 24/7 on call support utilizing maintenance supervisors, engineers, and maintenance technicians.
  • Understands cost and downtime trends and identifies projects to take corrective action.
  • Ensures the success of the Maintenance Team 5S program and Spare Parts Program.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 13% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The total target cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $114,260 to $178,540.

Senior Research Engineer I - Tape Solutions

Saint-Gobain Tape Solutions is searching for a Senior Research Engineer I to join our Adhesives Systems R&D Team at Saint-Gobain’s North American R&D center in Northborough, MA. The SRE I will be expected to design and execute experiments, analyze results, and present the findings in both written and oral formats in the areas of pressure-sensitive adhesive formulation, polymeric coating, adhesive characterization, and industrial scale-up. Under the direction of the R&D Group Leader, and in collaboration with Tape Solutions marketing and our customers, the Senior Research Engineer I will design and formulate new high-performance adhesives, produce lab and pilot scale films and tapes, coordinate plant trials, and facilitate launching new products. The new hire will also be expected to support projects led by others, demonstrate an open and collaborative approach in all areas of responsibility, and seek out others to enhance and streamline product development and decision making.

Essential Functions

  • Carry major projects through successful completion with assistance from supervisor (guidance on project objectives and technical approach are provided but autonomous execution is expected).
    • Projects involve the extension of present or new technology in one or more areas, involving improvement and/or development of products, processes, techniques, and fundamental knowledge.
    • Projects are assigned by supervisor and are several months to years in duration.
  • Fabricate product prototypes and characterize samples using various analytical techniques based on experiments designed by other engineers in the group in support of their projects.

  • Hands on experience within a chemistry lab setting and ability to work with chemicals in a fume hood is required.
  • Knowledge of chemical and/or mechanical characterization polymeric materials required.
  • Attention to detail when preparing samples for testing and conducting sample characterization required.
  • Experience with polymer coating formulation and/or pressure sensitive adhesives preferred.
  • Experience with solvent or UV cured coating processes and/or formulations preferred.

  • Packaging finished goods in large pallets, wooden boxes, cardboard boxes or other standard packaging
  • Utilizing all established PPE at all times
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; informing supervisors and team leads when machinery needs repairs; and adhering to all safety procedures and regulations.

Hourly Rate: $17.00 hourly + $0.50 shift premium
