What’s the job?

Consistent with the Corporate Objectives, World Class manufacturing principles and within a high-performance team environment, the Senior Engineering and Maintenance Manager provides leadership to effectively manage maintenance and engineering functions of the CertainTeed gypsum wallboard and plaster manufacturing plant located in Silver Grove, KY.

This position will guide maintenance and be responsible for the physical plant including buildings, grounds, machinery, and equipment, in compliance with local, state, and federal environmental and fire prevention standards. This Manager will also manage plant engineering activities to include capital expenditures, designs, cost estimations, capital requests, and selection/construction projects.The Senior Engineering and Maintenance Manager reports to the plant Senior Operations Manager. Reporting directly this Manager is a team of maintenance professionals and engineers

Below are some of the responsibilities this person will perform:

  • Develop departmental strategy and provide leadership to all departmental employees in the control & improvement of production processes, efficiency improvements, cost–savings initiatives, and CAPEX projects. Identifies and utilizes various change management strategies to overcome organizational roadblocks and achieve desired change levels and review outcomes for effectiveness. Primary interface with governmental agencies and compliance inspectors.
  • Effectively and continuously communicating with engineering, maintenance, operations and warehouse personnel and plant management. Internal contacts involve all plant teams in process control, purchasing and accounting personnel on requisitions and capital request data, and corporate engineering on special projects. Coordinates production to meet customer demands ensuring the maintenance work and project implementation outages are optimized.
  • Significant problem-solving situations involve scheduling of preventative and predictive maintenance programs and the installation, modification and /or repair of equipment in a manner which will assure employee safety, minimize production downtime, and assure product quality.
  • Directly leads all employees using team building, coaching, and teaching skills and knowledge of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) to lead the PM activities in expansion of lean manufacturing to all areas of the plant.

  • Leadership experience with demonstrated responsibility for the Engineering and Maintenance departments which includes full P&L responsibility of maintenance and CAPEX projects

This position is responsible for supporting the performance of specific vendors providing Finance and Accounting Services (F&A) to the Saint-Gobain North America (SGNA) Shared Service organization, including contract administration, financial analysis, and vendor performance.  The incumbent shall coordinate the reporting on operational aspects of the sourcing agreement across the F&A vendor portfolio and assist the Performance Management team in managing the relationships with the F&A vendors (Service Providers).  This role is expected to collaborate with the entire shared service team, including in-house shared service staff and the outsourced team (collectively referred to as Shared Service Team or “SST”).

PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT

  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports to track and visualize Service Provider compliance with critical service levels (CSLs) and key performance indicators (KPIs).

  • Identify and report on potential value leakage or service level credits through advanced data analytics.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to implement and monitor service level agreements and milestone achievements.

MEASURE CONTRACT PERFORMANCE

  • Monitor Service Provider compliance with contractual deliverables and obligations.
  • Review and submit Change Request Forms for any Service Provider, as well as review and coordinate all Change Proposals.
  • Log, review, and track status of contract related issues; resolve and escalate as needed.
  • Schedule and coordinate Internal and External Contract Reviews, and develop, document and track Improvement Action Plans
  • Determine if a Contract change is required in the development of the vendor’s Performance Improvement Plan for the Continuous Improvement Process
  • Develop, prepare and manage Balanced Scorecards for Service Providers
  • Maintain vendor governance calendar
  • Review and coordinate approval of contractual deliverables
  • Answer contract related questions, work with the Saint-Gobain Legal team to provide contract interpretation, and serve as escalation point for contract related issues
  • Provide training on contract and related processes

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

  • Review, validate and approve vendor invoices based on Service Delivery Inputs, as well as the exceptions, trends, variances, and associated contract triggers.
  • Update Financial Model with any Change Requests or Financial/ Performance Variances, and analyze the impacts or changes to the Business Case
  • Track actual spend to budgets and manage internal cost allocations
  • Confirm the calculations for Service Level Credits reported by the vendor
  • Process appropriation requests for capital and expense management
  • Provide estimated volumes by process in collaboration with process owners
  • Preparation of annual budgets and semi-annual cost forecasts
  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis and reviews as required from time to time.

  • Proficiency in developing and managing dashboards and reports using Power BI. Strong experience with DAX, Power Query, and data modeling.

Associate Site Buyer - Fiber

This position is responsible for managing raw material procurement and inventory for the Seven Hills mill in Lynchburg, VA. The spend year average is around $50M and is related to all fiber and other materials. This position is to support the Category Lead and support the communication between suppliers, freight forwarders, IPG Purchasing team and Plant Management.

The Associate Site Buyer’s role is required to implement, communicate and self-audit Purchasing corporate policies and procedures and adhered to both at the category and site level.

This role focuses on supporting the creation and maintenance of supply networks, procurement strategies and the optimization of best value fiber supply to assigned mill(s).

PLANT PURCHASING DUTIES

  • Create and follow-up Purchase Orders
    • Ensure the correct information from Winshuttle to SAP is flowing correctly.
    • Request acceptance/confirmation from suppliers.

Senior Research Engineer I - Filtration Technology

Saint Gobain Research North America’s Life Sciences Filtration Technologies team is searching for a talented Senior Research Engineer I to join their team.

The position of Senior Research Engineer I will be responsible for researching and developing new technologies to strengthen and expand our filtration offerings. The selected candidate will lead R&D projects from the initial stages of conceptualization and prototyping through experimental testing and commercialization by leveraging their experience and materials science expertise. This role involves close collaboration with R&D colleagues, the commercial team, application engineers, and end-users. Projects will focus on understanding filtration technology landscape, identifying unmet industry pain points, and developing innovative solutions to meet customer needs.

This role will be located at the Saint-Gobain North America Research Center, and it will work closely with the Life Sciences R&D teams and Competency Research Laboratories. The Filtration portfolio covers markets and applications such as medical devices, biopharma, cell and gene therapy, diagnostics, and semiconductor manufacturing.

Essential Functions

  • Utilizes strong research and/or project experiences and broad expertise in engineering and material science to improve on/or develop new filtration solutions.
  • Manages projects from inception through scale-up. Manages multiple projects simultaneously, on time, well documented and within budget to meet business and customer objectives. Able to balance creativity with process and documentation.
  • Builds close relationships with customers, product management, R&D team, application engineers, and position himself/herself as a technical expert to address customer challenges, explain our products and technology, and assist with product and application development.
  • Work with quality, customers and application engineers to troubleshoot and analyze complaints and differentiate between application and product-related issues. Aids in the investigation and timely resolution of quality complaints.
  • Stays aware of new technology and product developments within the markets and applications of interest to the Life Science Business.
  • Excellent communicator who can communicate technically with internal and external collaborators and utilize knowledge to identify solutions, advance projects and identify productive synergies.
  • Understands Gate Process and Change/Design Control methodology/ideology and utilizes and incorporates it in projects.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

Education:

BS degree and 7 years’ experience, MS degree and 3 years’ experience or PhD (entry level) in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, or related fields.

Experience – Required:

  • 4+ years of experience with fundamental research, product development, application development, or manufacturing experience in Life Science fields.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience on laboratory work, preferably in Life science applications.
  • 3+ years of experience in the management or running a project. Includes creating timelines, costing, communicating, presenting to leadership, etc.

Experience – Preferred:

  • 3+ years of strong fundamental and practical knowledge of filtration technology and applications in markets such as Biopharma, medical, and microelectronics.

Industrial Maintenance Mechanic (Nights)

Why do we need you?

We depend on your expertise to safely maintain and repair key production equipment, support utilities, and facility infrastructure. Your role involves handling machinery installations and maintaining a variety of systems, including steam, chiller, hydraulic, compressed air, and basic electrical troubleshooting. Works from machine prints, sketches, manuals, and verbal instructions. Collaborates with Engineering to resolve mechanical issues or design new systems as needed. Investigates mechanical breakdown reports, tests machinery, and performs necessary repairs.

• Performs scheduled Preventive Maintenance (PM) on all assigned machinery and equipment. Ensures proper maintenance records are maintained and updated.

• Manages spare parts inventory and maintenance supplies, placing reorder requests as needed. Coordinates with vendors and the purchasing department. Schedules and conducts periodic inspections of electrical/mechanical equipment, identifying defects and proactively upgrading equipment.

• Ensures the safety and maintenance of production equipment, support utilities, and facility infrastructure, including installation, maintenance, and repair of production equipment, steam, chiller, hydraulic, and compressed air systems, basic electrical troubleshooting, and fabrication.

• Conducts required audits, including cleaning, painting, and maintaining 5S or other efficiency management programs.
