Position Summary

The Receptionist is responsible for a wide variety of clerical office duties in support of company administration. This includes coordinating and communicating office activities, greeting and screening visitors and answering and transferring inbound telephone calls. The Receptionist will also be responsible for administrating company correspondence.

What you’ll do:

  • Respond to telephone, e-mail, and in-person inquiries from clients, business partners, and other parties in a timely, professional, and courteous manner.
  • As a representative of the company, present a positive and professional image of the organization to all visitors, suppliers, inquiries, and other interactions, through all forms of communication.
  • Refer all inquiries to the appropriate individuals, divisions, or departments across the organization.
  • Take and record telephone, e-mail, or written messages for associates as requested and notify that associate in a timely manner
  • Ensure that the appropriate evacuation procedures are carried out in the event of an emergency.
  • Administer and manage inbound/outbound mail, including priority post, packages, courier services, and other correspondence.
  • Receive and distribute all forms of mail correspondence to appropriate parties.
  • Maintain the reception in a tidy and presentable manner and ensure common areas are kept tidy.
  • Assist with scanning and filing of bill of lading’s (“BOL”) and email to customers when required.
  • Reconciliation of all courier Invoices and statements.
  • Work closely with the Customer Service Supervisor to develop new ideas and support a continuous improvement process within and beyond your own area of responsibility.
  • Prepare and mail Bailey sales and marketing literature and product binders for sales staff as needed.
  • Keep track of (log) all customer calls to Sales Representatives. 
  • Maintain a high standard of professional knowledge, ethics, and practices when dealing with customers, suppliers, peers, supervisors, and other key stakeholders of the company.
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner that reflects integrity and respect towards customers, suppliers, peers, subordinates, supervisors, and other key stakeholders of the company.
  • Understand, support, and adhere to the company’s health and safety policies, programs, and procedures by communicating and promoting health and safety awareness to coworkers.
  • Participate in the company’s quarterly inventory count when required.
  • Support Social Committee activities where required.
  • Support the Customer Service Team with order entry when required.
  • Other responsibilities and accountabilities as assigned by the Customer Service Supervisor.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a customer service or administrative role is preferred.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

This role will oversee large-scale projects including new technology deployments, data analytics, and process improvements, ensuring alignment with Industry 4.0 strategies and CAPEX planning.

Essential duties include:

• Lead the design and execution of advanced manufacturing strategies to sustainably enhance productivity, reduce cost, and improve consistency of product quality leveraging leading edge industry 4.0 technology

• Develop automation strategies that align with business long range planning

• Collaborate with plants and functions to align business objectives to I4.0 priorities

Position Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic will carry out repair and preventive maintenance activities. This includes promptly diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing parts for flat roll steel slitting lines, packaging equipment, banding tools, and hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the maintenance and repair of machinery, equipment, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems while meeting scheduling priorities, safety, quality productivity, and reliability requirements.
  • Develop, implement & maintain schedules & procedures for preventive maintenance programs in coordination with necessary departments and maintain logs/documents.
  • Advise daily the required repair time to scheduling, and production department if it takes more than 24 hours; Record equipment downtime and repair done in a systematic way.
  • Search, negotiate, and administer contracts for the provision of supplies, parts, and services for maintenance including annual inspection of material handling equipment.
  • Plan, organize, transfer, and install machinery and equipment as per manufacturer’s instructions without compromising safety.
  • Report on a daily basis an update on equipment requiring preventive maintenance, repair, or replacement of parts.
  • Develop required reporting forms, and documentation.
  • Identify and implement work measures to continually improve maintenance work methods, systems, productivity, safety, and quality of service.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Red Seal Certificate is an asset.
  • 5-7 years of experience in a steel processing or steel-making plant environment is preferred.
  • Electronic/Instrumentation maintenance experience is essential.
  • Hydraulic systems and heavy equipment experience is essential.
  • Welding skills operating MIG and TIG welders are an asset.
  • Forklift & overhead crane repair knowledge is an asset.

Research Technician – Inorganic Materials & Processing

The Inorganic Materials and Processing group (IMP) at SGR North America is searching for a Research Technician. The IMP group supports Business Units in the development of ceramic powders and components for industrial applications including structural, thermal, electrical, and abrasive applications.

The Research Technician performs experiments involving ceramic processing and application testing of ceramic materials as well as the operation and maintenance of high temperature furnaces. This involves lab work, data acquisition, and/or product development activities with minimal supervision. He/she works with engineers and customers in solving problems related to ceramic processing or the performance of ceramic materials.   In addition, this position may also perform specialized technical functions involving testing, analyzing, improving, installing, operating equipment and products for assigned areas.

Essential Functions

  • Operate and maintain high temperature furnaces used to process ceramic components.
  • Conduct experiments as assigned working with project leaders to develop new forming techniques, to conduct performance testing and to record data.
    • Primary areas of responsibility will be ceramic processing, measurement, and characterization.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment including set-up, operation and troubleshooting of experimental equipment or instruments. Lead troubleshooting initiatives and machine repair efforts. Perform preventive maintenance on equipment as required and maintain 5S within labs.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

Required Qualifications

High School diploma or GED (demonstrated equivalent) required.

  • 1-5 years of experience in manufacturing or research required.
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude required.
  • Ability to collect, enter, plot and manipulate scientific data using Excel, Word, PowerPoint required.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Research Engineer II - Processing Technology

Saint-Gobain Research North America is looking to hire a Research Engineer II to join their CRL Processing Technology team.

The team works closely with various Saint-Gobain business units to improve production processes, solve problems, and develop new products. The new hire is expected to manage R&D projects involving polymer processing technologies such as extrusion, compounding and injection molding. While not expected to be an expert in all these areas, the incumbent must be able to research and understand new areas of process technology quickly. The projects will be executed on laboratory and pilot-scale equipment at the R&D center, and in collaboration with our manufacturing sites.

The Research Engineer II should enjoy learning, problem solving, and potentially designing new processes and process technologies. The candidate is expected to create and execute project plans, design and conduct experiments, analyze results, and present findings in written and oral formats. The ability to communicate across all levels of the organization will be important part of this role. Manufacturing experience in any of the above areas as well as experience with 3D CAD tools and FEA, CFD simulation software for polymers is preferable but not required.

The candidate is expected to collaborate effectively with other R&D groups and engineering colleagues within other Saint-Gobain manufacturing locations, application engineers and external customers. In addition to the primary projects, the candidate will be expected to support projects led by others.

Maintenance Supervisor

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

Job Summary 

Supervises the daily activities of skilled maintenance personnel and assists with maintenance project work as assigned.  Supervisor is held accountable to ensure maintenance activities are carried out in compliance with all environmental, health, and safety requirements, compliance with legal and company policies, and procedures in a manner consistent with SGC CertainTeed LLC Principles of Conduct and Action.

Essential Functions

  • Directly supervises the hourly skilled maintenance employees in the improvement and maintenance of plant equipment, building maintenance, machinery, utilities etc. Will lead shift safety meetings to ensure compliance to all safety, environmental and health policies, procedures, and practices. 
  • Organize and structure planned and unplanned repairs and preventive maintenance routines in a manner that will ensure efficient operation of equipment and plant operating systems.
  • Communicates & documents employee expectations and assess employee performance. Provides coaching and development opportunities of maintenance crews and administers disciplinary action up to and including termination if needed. Will be required to assist in the evaluation and selection process of hiring hourly employees. 
  • Works with Maintenance Superintendent/Manager to develop PM’S that drive improved reliability as well as developing and maintaining standard – will maintain records of all plant and individual equipment performance.
  • Oversees the training of maintenance employees to ensure they receive adequate training prior to repairing/working on any of the manufacturing equipment per standard operating and maintenance procedures, and work instructions.10%
  • Assists in performing root-cause analysis as well as implementing sustainable countermeasures on losses related to equipment/machinery failure.
  • Maintains workplace organization to ensure good housekeeping (5S) by holding employees responsible for their assigned work areas.
  • Reviews and approves employee time in the UKG timekeeping system and ensures employees are paid the correct hours and wages in accordance with the respective sites pay policies and procedures or collective bargaining agreements.
  • Investigate EH&S incidents – Injuries, Near Misses, First Aid, Environmental and Property/Equipment Damage. Conduct EHS and SMAT Audits to support the plants EHS goals. Ensure adherence to Waste Management and Recycling responsibilities.

Required Qualifications 

  • 3 to 5 years of Supervisory experience, in a manufacturing environment 
  • High level of knowledge/understanding of Preventive Maintenance (PM) tracking systems.
  • General understanding of ISO methodology (ISO 9001, 14001, & OHSAS 18001)

  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, TPM,  5S & Six Sigma a plus

  • Proficient in use of MS Office (familiarity with UKG and SAP systems) – high level knowledge of computer systems/programs especially in areas of preventive maintenance solutions/tracking.

Automation Engineer

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

Job Summary

The Automation Engineer will manage CertainTeed's local factory operational technology (OT) and SCADA/MES and automation manufacturing infrastructure.  This position will work closely with the engineering and operations teams to develop and support projects, maintain local systems and provide troubleshooting and technical support, ensuring quality of the delivery, availability and performance of OT, SCADA/MES and automation systems.

Main Duties & Responsibilities 

  • PAC/PLC Control Systems
    • Utilize control standards for development and implementation of the automation and controls obsolesce program roadmap.
    • Development and implementation of a systematic back up/recovery and change control program for PLC, HMI and associated peripheral equipment programs
    • Support the factory in the below areas:
      • Intermediate to advanced troubleshooting production PLC/HMI, their control systems and associated hardware
      • Intermediate troubleshooting production HMI systems and code
      • Intermediate troubleshooting production VFD and servo drive systems
    • Ability to Interpret electrical schematics, industrial network schematics and complex safety circuit networks
  • System Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)/Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
    • Intermediate knowledge of one or more of the following;
      • Wonderware System Platform, Rockwell SE, Inductive Automation Ignition and associated Historians
    • Knowledge of OPC Servers, MS SQL Server to support guided configuration and enhancements.
    • Intermediate troubleshooting of messaging from production floor equipment to-and-from the SCADA/MES systems.
    • Maintain backup and recovery plans for PLC/SCADA.
    • Development and Maintenance of secure 3rd party access and remote connectivity to the Factory systems.
  • Operational Technology [OT]
    • Intermediate troubleshooting of Microsoft Server platforms using remote desktop protocol

  • Industrial Performance Improvement
