The Take Off Operator in our Seattle, Washington plant is primarily responsible to use machines according to safety standards in the area of the production line that stacks, tapes, and bundles gypsum wallboard board together for outbound shipments to customers. The successful candidate will also be responsible to add spacers (known as sluetters) between stacks of bundled wallboard, performing timely quality inspections on a regular schedule using an internal computer and written system(s), ensuring the accuracy of production count, and transporting the bundled gypsum wallboard to the correct area of the warehouse using a forklift.

This position reports directly to the Shift Performance Manager and works independently and within a team setting.

Shift: 7:00am-7:00pm, 7:00pm-7:00am
Pay: $29.29 per hour

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Champions a safety-first environment and keeps up to date on new safety policies, procedures, and initiatives
  • Performs quality checks per the quality control plan and escalates issues to Line Production Lead if required
  • Safely operates bundler and stacker machines and tools to produce wallboard according to quality and specification standards
  • Properly adds 8 lbs. sluetters between bundled wallboard for each load according to standards and places sluetters in the warehouse for load placement. Re-supplies sluetters at takeoff using a fork truck
  • Adheres to Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures to help address mechanical issues or upset conditions
  • Performs daily fork truck inspection and refuel as needed
  • Places wallboard loads in warehouse properly with forklift adhering to all safety rules and traffic guidelines
  • Clear rejected wallboard from the reject stacker with forklift
  • Maintains an accurate wallboard count making sure every wallboard is of good quality, ensure culled boards are accounted for according to systems and procedures
  • Assists with troubleshooting responses to problems or breakdowns in the Take Off area and on the lines as required
  • Adheres to all housekeeping standards and ensures workspace is clean, safe, and in working order within assigned area(s)
  • Maintains in-depth and ongoing knowledge of assigned equipment, work area(s), procedural and safety updates
  • Works well with others in a team environment
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures
  • Changes out end tape, zip tape, and other consumables on the machine as required
  • Assists with projects and administrative paperwork including recording and entering data into established systems, monthly Safety Management Audit Tool (SMATs), inventory tracking, damage and injury reports, and World Class Manufacturing (WCM) work area improvement projects.
  • Participates in daily pre-shift meetings
  • Participates as required in AIB board meetings and completes AIB tasks as required
  • Participates in biweekly training/continuous improvement days
  • Must report to work on a consistent and timely basis
    MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
  • High school education or equivalent
  • Proven ability to read, write, interpret and/or apply instructions to assigned activities
  • Mechanical aptitude to operate machinery
  • Display adaptability, customer focus, and good written and oral communication
    PREFERRED OR DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Two (2) years of experience industrial manufacturing environment

Production Operator

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

In this hands-on Production Operator role, you will operate all production equipment, manage scrap, and maintain high productivity levels at the CertainTeed Gypsum Finishing Corner Production Plant in Bend, Oregon. You will also sustain a positive team environment and a focus on quality assurance and continuous improvement.

Typical Job Duties

  • Run efficient production lines, problem-solve to ensure products meet quality specifications, including checking product and equipment frequently, and make immediate adjustments to lines when needed.
  • Set-up, start, run, shutdown, clean, and troubleshoot extruders and other production equipment.
  • Build boxes, maintain printers, track tools and equipment, and ensure all needed supplies are available.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork (i.e. all logbooks and line paperwork), read and understand specifications for all products, grade products, and document all changes to the lines as they occur.
  • Keep lines and production floor clean, free of debris, and stocked for the incoming shift.
  • Consistently and effectively communicate with all other team members and ask for help when needed.
  • Participate in and promote safety, quality, continuous improvement events and ideas.
  • Identify opportunities and help find new or better solutions.

Work Schedule

Our shift schedules are fixed with current openings on the following shift:

  • Day Shift - Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 4:30am-5:00pm
  • Night Shift - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 4:30pm-5:00am

Compensation

Starting compensation for Production Operators is $20.00 per hour. Those assigned to the Night Shift also receive a 10% shift differential.

Additionally, all hours worked in excess of 10 hours per day are paid out as overtime. Therefore, in a normal work week, Production Operators work three 12-hours days for a total of 36 hours worked per week. In return, they receive 30 hours of regular earnings and 6 hours of overtime per week.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • One-year manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
  • Manual dexterity is required for operating machinery and computer entry.
  • Minimum English competency to adequately perform duties and responsibilities, both written and verbal

Programmer and Set Up CNC Machinist

  • Read work orders to understand and meet customer specifications.
  • Ability to maintain drawing specifications by monitoring dimensional and visual characteristics to detect non-conformances.

The Business Development Manager (BDM) will drive sales and build strategic partnerships for Single-Use Systems within the assigned territory and portfolio. We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates and provide the national pay range for this position which is $102,000 to $158,000 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 20% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $122,400 to $189,600. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.

Maintenance Mechanic

The Chowchilla Manufacturing Facility operates 24/7. Successful candidates will possess the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays, 12-hour shifts and rotate from day shift (7:30 am to 7:30 pm) to night shift (7:30 pm to 7:30 am) every 4 weeks. This schedule repeats throughout the year.

 

Maintenance Mechanics support the site activities related to equipment reliability, maintenance, and safety. Mechanics will troubleshoot machine breakdowns and make repairs safely to restore the machine to the proper operating condition. Mechanics must adhere to all company safety policies and JSAs while performing tasks and at all times on the premises.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Troubleshoots and repairs down or malfunctioning facilities and production equipment. Repairs or fabricates equipment.
  • Installing, modifying, adjusting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repair of all mobile & plant equipment.
  • Repair and troubleshoot all rotating and stationary equipment, such as motors and gearboxes.
  • Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic systems.
  • Follow standard operating procedures-PM schedules, maintenance work orders.

  • Ability to work autonomously with limited supervision.
  • Detailed oriented with the ability to follow a checklist and maintain accurate work order documentation through SAP software.
  • Experienced in machine modification and rebuilds a plus.
  • Basic PC skills including use of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and to clearly communicate information received in both written and verbal forms.
  • Ability to use shop math (add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals) and compute rate, ratio and percent and ability to reach and interpret basic measuring equipment.

Certain states require pay information be provided in job postings. The local pay range for this position is $30.20 to $33.03 per hour, plus .55 shift differential of /hr. This hourly pay rate offered can vary depending on location /geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to the hourly base pay rate, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount can be up to 3% of hourly rate based on company and individual performance measures. The total annual target cash range (Hourly Pay Rate and Bonus, Annualized (40 hrs/week * 52wks) for this position, is $80,819 to $88,324

 

Additional Pay Incentives for this Role Include:

  • Shift Differentials (i.e. Hourly Rate plus 2nd Shift Differential of .55 / hr
  • Standard Overtime (Hourly Rate * 1.5)
