Position Summary

The Shipping Administrator, under the direction of the Logistics Coordinator, is responsible for assisting with all administrative functions in the Logistics office, assisting customers that arrive in the shipping area, scheduling fleet maintenance, and other duties as required. This position will also provide back-up coverage to the Logistics Coordinator when the Logistics Coordinator is away. As this position works directly with many of our customers, strong customer service skills are critical to the success of this position.

Job Duties

  • Work safely, ensuring that all company policies and procedures are followed;
  • Handle all load manifest and shipping paperwork and post load manifests daily;
  • Assist Logistics Coordinator in all administrative functions of the job;
  • Provide coverage for the Logistics Coordinator function for vacations, sicknesses, and other absences from the workplace;
  • Provide delivery updates to customers or the Sales team on an as needed basis;
  • Liaise with drivers on truck or delivery issues;
  • Liaise with customers on delivery issues;
  • Successful completion of the in-house forklift certification training;
  • Handle all walk-in customer orders and enter the order into the computer system if necessary, ensuring that the proper credit and margin releases are completed prior to the product being given to the customer;
  • Accurately pick orders for customer walk-ins;
  • Load customer vehicles either manually or with a forklift;
  • Maintain and schedule all fleet maintenance;
  • Liaise with our truck leasing companies on fleet details, problems, and switchovers;
  • Liaise with the fleet tracking software provider regarding the onboard truck systems and address any issues that may be identified;
  • Arrange all paperwork for the evening loading shift;
  • Inform the Inventory Control team when returned material has come back on the trucks;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Senior Research Engineer I – Architectural Ceilings and Walls

This member of the R&D team will be located at the CertainTeed Strongsville manufacturing site and enable efficient manufacturing of interior building products for the wood ceiling and wall specialty segments.  Projects will focus on improvement of processes, performance and product development activities related to the entire CertainTeed specialty ceilings product line.

As a Senior Research Engineer, the candidate will be expected to effectively collaborate with cross functional teams (R&D, EHS, operations, supply chain, product management) to execute and deliver project objectives within the wood ceiling segment.  The candidate will use excellent scientific methodology to create and execute project plans, design production trials, analyze data, and communicate findings. The candidate will also act as the lead engineer for the provision of adequate tools, equipment, and process methods while applying the best practices to define quality standards, manage risks, and complete validation testing. The candidate is expected to collaborate with plant personnel to identify opportunities for process improvement and propose best practices to R&D and the business.

Essential Functions

  • Work safely in manufacturing environment and actively participate in continuous improvement of the Saint-Gobain safety culture.
  • Lead new innovation development for the Architectural Ceilings and Walls team, with a focus on specialty products.
  • Independently drive new product design in alignment with portfolio and customer needs.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities for more efficient and reliable processes, raw material management, and improved production of current products.
  • Design and carry out test methods and production trials with strong scientific methodologies that yield actionable data while minimizing impact on plant productivity.
  • Partner with product, supply chain, sales, and operations teams to proactively identify roadblocks in development projects and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Develop product design and engineering specifications, manufacturing plans and CTQ requirements.

Required Qualifications

BS Degree with a minimum of 7+ years’ experience or MS with 3+ years of experience plus demonstrated technical judgement/accomplishments, or entry level PhD in Engineering, Chemistry, or other related fields.

  • Strong ability to communicate verbally and via written documentation.
  • Experience in ISO 9001 & 14991 management systems preferred.
  • Experience in DOE, FMEA, VSM, 5S, Kaizen, and 8D Methodologies preferred.
  • Understanding of PMBOK Guideline, Stage Gate / APQP, ECN/MOC for process development preferred.
  • Experience in production trials and validation testing preferred.
  • Experience in wood materials and manufacturing techniques preferred.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Technical Operator will be responsible for successfully operating equipment, evaluating samples, and compiling information and reports. The list of duties includes, but is not limited to:

SAFETY

  • Always support a safe working environment in all areas of the plant and with all employee interactions.
  • Immediately, correct or report unsafe acts or conditions through appropriate channels of resolution.

SUPPORT PLANT OPERATIONS

  • Daily operations include, but aren’t limited to, safety, quality, housekeeping, operations, maintenance, material handling, and inventory management.

  • Communication: you will continuously interact with peers and managers about daily interactions, potential issues, and needs; it is critical that you remain approachable and engaged with the team – we look out for one another, and communication is the key.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

Operates and monitors automated vinyl and accessory extruders. Extruders are fed with compound while panels and accessories are produced using the latest technology in machinery. Tooling and downstream equipment are used to produce a high quality finished product.

Shift: 12hr shift on a 2-2-3 schedule (3 days one week, 4 days the next week) which requires you to be able to work every other weekend.

Shift Hours: Day Shift - 8a-8p or Night shift - 8p-8a

Pay: $25.18/hr. paid weekly

NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:

Set up, operate, and monitor production extrusion machinery. Start-up extrusion lines and makes all required adjustments to stabilize process in order to minimize scrap and maximize efficiency. Reprogrammable microprocessor controls are used and monitored to achieve desired product quality.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Performs continuous 1/2 hour quality checks by measuring, testing, and recording data to ensure 100% acceptable material.
  • Monitors in-coming materials, regrind, compound, and concentrate to ensure proper color, lot number, and process-ability.
  • Continually monitors all tooling and downstream equipment to achieve proper specifications.
  • Fills out and monitors all process control sheets and monitors packaging and labeling of finished goods.
  • Must be capable of troubleshooting and basic processing conditions to ensure the highest quality possible.
  • Must be skillful in color changes, start-up, and shut down of all equipment.
  • Assist maintenance and tooling personnel in resetting lines to maintain the highest quality product.
  • Accountable for production efficiency, scrap, and quality standards.
  • Required, when necessary, to pack/inspect the product online in addition to the operation of fork trucks and housekeeping.
  • Must demonstrate good team skills, troubleshooting skills, and both verbal and written communications to ensure an efficient operation.

  • Maintains 5S on tools, spare parts inventory, and work area.
  • Ensures adequate spare parts inventory; places orders on tools/spare parts as necessary, with manager approval.
  • Ensure all work orders are closed and follow-up to improve reliability effectiveness
  • Secures facilities and equipment in case of emergency or crisis situation.
  • Responsible for the repair and maintenance of facility and grounds in regard to safety and compliance whether city, state, federal, or Saint-Gobain requirements.
  • Perform other duties as directed or required.
