We are seeking an on-site materials planner to join our team!
Summary and Principal Area of Responsibility:
Effectively plans and implements work for assigned production area(s) ensuring parts or materials and manpower are available for the shop to perform the work. This position is responsible for the planning and scheduling of activities for all raw materials and production for the product lines assigned in the Hoosick Falls plants.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes the following; other duties may be assigned):
- Use MRP and other inputs to create schedules.
- Release materials requirements to suppliers in support of schedules.
- Adjust plant and supplier schedules as necessary due to shifts in demand or customer requirements.
- Conducts capacity analyses by specific work center/machine to determine the need for additional tools/capital equipment. Ensures capacity plan is followed. Troubleshoots potential capacity issues on an ongoing basis.
- Work closely with Group Leaders to execute schedules and ensure schedule compliance.
- Work closely with customer support to ensure correct interpretation of customer requirements.
- Develop inventory reduction plans and activities that drive plant inventories to targeted levels.
- Participate directly in plant physical inventories/cycle count activities.
- Work on projects with suppliers to improve material services or reduce inventories.
- Visit suppliers with Purchasing team members as needed to communicate forecasted requirements or contribute to supplier/partnership activities.
- Involved in plant capacity management review and action plans.
- Monitors and takes action to improve delivery performance.
- Performs shop floor inventory and work order transactions.
- Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates.
IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business with a specialization in the area or production/operations management preferred. Equivalent combination of training and work experience may substitute for degree. APICS certification desired.
Work Experience:
Working knowledge of all aspects of the flow of material through the plant operations. Knowledge of MRP II business systems and forecasting techniques. Knowledge of manufacturing, quality control, and planning processes. Lean manufacturing experience desired.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs
- Working knowledge of QAD desired
- Must be a dedicated, self-starter with a high degree of motivation

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates and provide the local pay range for this position, which is $22.36 to $44.61 per hour. This hourly pay rate offered can vary depending on location, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
Estimated starting salary for this position is $28.00 to $32.00 per hour for external applicants. In addition to the hourly base pay rate, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount can be up to 10% of hourly rate based on company and individual performance measures. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
