Job Summary

*This role requires a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the long-term reliability of plant processes through technical support, engineering activities/projects designed to ensure equipment/processes/workflows are operating safely, efficiently and are maximized for optimal output.

Process Management

• Develops and maintains Bill of Materials (BOM) and routings for accurate costing and scheduling.

• Manages quote requests and provides accurate costs to Project Management/Customer Solutions team.

• Develops and maintains standard operating procedures, maintenance procedures, and work instructions.

• Design/develop and/or revise process systems and work area layouts in a safe, cost-effective manner.

• Supports maintenance/production personnel in resolving process and product variation, equipment failure/variation using problem solving/corrective action techniques.

• Collects, interprets, extrapolates date from production process to monitor current equipment performance against established baselines and applies appropriate corrective action.

• Provides input into planning and scheduling of projects and preparing capital expenditures to include primary processing equipment, material handlings, automation, and primary/ancillary process equipment for site.

• Plans, evaluates, organizes, and implements assigned installation, maintenance and repair activities coordinating with other departments to assure minimum downtime for production and maximum safety of employees.

• Provides training for operators and maintenance personnel as needed.

• Tracks process bottlenecks and develops/executes improvement plans.

• Participates in WCM/Lean projects identifying/eliminating wastes utilizing Lean, 6 Sigma/WCM tools and methodologies.

• Leads execution of plant cost savings projects; reports plant cost savings performance monthly.

New Product Development

• Identifies new opportunities and solutions with cost/benefit analysis and makes recommendations to improve efficiencies.

• Assist in New Product Development as needed.

 

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

• Bachelor's Degree, Mechanical Engineering

• 1 to 3 Years Manufacturing Engineering experience

• 1 to 3 Years WCM/Lean Experience

• Strong Project Management Skills

• Lean Manufacturing &; Continuous Improvement application

Mill/Braid Operator- 2nd Shift; Beaverton, MI

The Mill/Braid Operator is responsible for safely operating both the mill and braiding machines. The Mill/Braid Operator will use the mill machine to compound silicone raw silicone to provide to the Extrusion Operators. The Operator must mill batches, up to 40 lbs., using the two-roll mill, to mix material per the routing notes, SOPs, MOPs, or batch records. Operator must also visually inspect product to ensure parts are clean and free of any dirt, hair, or particulate before supplying to the Extrusion department.

The Mill/Braid Operator will also be responsible for braiding reinforced silicone tubing using the braiding machine. This Operator must also record in-process inspections and verifications using Good Documentation Practices (GDP). Proficient at the operation, OJT & trouble-shooting processes/equipment in the mill/braid department. Operator is expected to safely produce the highest quality products in the silicone industry, following the standards of operation as set forth by SGPPL, Beaverton.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED is required
  • Machine Operating Experience is preferred
  • Proficient with measurement equipment is required
  • Good eye/hand coordination is required
  • Being mechanically inclined is required
  • Having attention to detail is required
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; required.

In support of this acquisition , Saint-Gobain has an exciting career opportunity for a Red Seal Sheet Metal Journeyperson for our Edmonton Plant. The person will fabricate, assemble, install, and repair the sheet metal products required.

 

The core hours are 7:30am to 4:00pm. Monday to Friday.

Rate:

  • $38.99/hr for the first 640 hours
  • $39.74/hr after 640 hours until 1 year of service
  • $40.49/hr after 1 year.
  • Additional Red Seal tickets are paid $1/hour extra.
  • Annual increases per the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The Roles & Responsibilities of this person would be:

  • Pipe Insulation and Cladding;
  • Fabrication of Vents, Ducting and Guards;
  • Operating a break press along with other Power Tools;
  • Use of sheet metal shop equipment for building custom sheet metal products;
  • Do maintenance, installation and repairs on all aspects of the building components (exterior and interior);
  • Measure up materials for ordering and shop fabrication;
  • Working with vendors, sourcing suppliers, asking for quotes and making purchase requests in collaboration with the Maintenance Planner;
  • Performs all duties in accordance with the safety program standards of the Company and the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations and Code;
  • Liaises and collaborates with other trades;
  • Performs other duties as required.

  • Sheet Metal Ticket (required);

  • 5+ years experience as a Sheet Metal Journeyperson;
  • Experience in HVAC, cladding, insulating, welding;

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment;
  • Comfortable in working at heights;

The Packaging Operator will safely ensure parts are assembled correctly, referencing detailed drawings, attribute specifications, and routing notes. Must perform dimensional inspections to ensure product is in accordance with the provided detailed drawings and routing notes, using micrometers, calipers, tape measure, and other measuring tools. The Packaging Operator must also visually inspect product to ensure parts are clean and free of any dirt, hair, or particulate before packaging. Once product is packaging, the Packaging Operator will use a heat sealer to ensure the product is properly packaged. This Operator must also record in-process inspections and verifications using Good Documentation Practices (GDP).

Job Functions:

  • Package quality silicone manufactured parts and assemblies while using basic troubleshooting skills with little supervision.
  • Read and interpret written work processes, manufacturing aides, models, and basic prints.
  • Proficient in the use of general computer programs and current industrial technology including QAD, MQ1, and FACTIVITY.
  • Perform designated job functions adhering to standards as defined by SOP’s, MOP’s, ISO standards, & GMP.
  • Proficient in the safe use of power and hand tools for defined processes.
  • Able to perform general math equations, knowledge of metric and standard systems, complete accurate documentation, multi-task, and stand for multiple hours.

Assembly Operator - 2nd Shift; Beaverton, MI

Pay: $16.50/hr. (after completing the training period). $1.00/hr. shift premium for 2nd shift. 

The Assembly Operator will safely assemble medical and biopharmaceutical manifolds according to the detailed drawings, using various assembly tools. Must perform dimensional inspections to ensure product is assembled in accordance with the provided routing notes. The Assembly Operator must also visually inspect product to ensure parts are clean and free of any dirt, hair, or particulate. This Operator must also record in-process inspections and verifications using Good Documentation Practices (GDP). Must have good attention to detail, and good hand/eye coordination.

Safely operate finishing (assembly & packaging) equipment & tools with limited supervision. Proficient at QAD system, accurate data entry, material & supplies reconciliation, and packet closure. Follow pertinent SOP and MOP guidelines, inspect product, and complete paperwork with limited supervision.

 

Job Functions:

  • Read and interpret written work processes, manufacturing aides, models, and basic prints.
  • Safely produce quality manufactured parts using basic troubleshooting skills with limited supervision.
  • Proficient in the use of general computer programs and current industrial technology including QAD, MQ1, and FACTIVITY

Job Summary

Consistent with the Strategic Corporate Objectives, provides the leadership to effectively manage all engineering activities concerned with the design, cost estimation, selection/construction, compliance, with state and federal environmental standards, installation, and maintenance of activities. Requires prior experience and knowledge in problem-solving and employee management and the ability to apply those skills in a manufacturing facility in a supervisory capacity. The incumbent must have the ability to provide leadership and innovation within this area of expertise, adaptability, customer and supplier focus, and strong written and oral communication. Requires an advanced operation and knowledge of computer programs and operation.  This position reports directly to the Operations Manager. Directly supervises all exempt Plant Engineering employees and through them all skilled, semi-skilled, and clerical non-exempt personnel.

Has latitude for non-reviewed actions and the exercise of independent judgment and discretion within established policies and procedures.  Must obtain prior approval for significant changes to the approved engineering, budget, or maintenance plans. Internal contacts involve all plant departments in the coordination and scheduling of plant repairs, equipment modifications, or installations; purchasing and accounting personnel on requisitions and AFE data; and corporate engineering on special projects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Significant problem-solving situations involve scheduling of preventative and predictive maintenance programs and the installation, modification, and /or repair of equipment in a manner, that will assure employee safety, minimize production downtime and ensure product quality
  • Responsible for budget preparation, planning, and scheduling of all capital and maintenance activities in the plant, as well as preparation and implementation of all capital projects and AR’s.
  • Responsible for coordinating all environmental issues including
  • Responsible for utility needs such as deregulation, nominations, and daily
  • Day-to-day communications and interactions with external contacts which involve vendors and outside contractors to obtain bids for new facilities or equipment; and the governmental agencies and insurance representatives on fire prevention, safety inspection, environmental issues,
  • Report all EH&S incidents – Injuries/Recordables, Near Misses, First Aid, Environmental and Property/Equipment Damage.
  • Ensure adherence to Waste Management and Recycling responsibilities.
  • Participate in Incident & Near Miss Investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions
  • Conduct weekly SMAT audits.

 

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering and professional knowledge of plant engineering disciplines, such as automated control systems
  • Requires proven Leadership skills in Industrial Management plus approximately five to seven years of professional experience of which two to three years should be in a supervisory capacity
  • Have the ability to provide Leadership and innovation at all organizational levels, adaptability, customer and supplier focus, good written and oral communication. 
  • Requires advanced computer skills and be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and other operating systems.

Job Summary

The Manufacturing Infrastructure Support Technician position will join a new team dedicated to develop, support, maintain and troubleshoot problems related to the manufacturing IT / OT environments and applications. 

This position will be responsible for local implementation and maintenance of an IT infrastructure in compliance with standards developed by Saint Gobain Technology Services and act as sites principle point of contact for cyber security issues and mitigation projects.  The manufacturing IT infrastructure can be unique to each plant and business requiring a strong understanding of plant processes to avoid unnecessary interruption or downtime. In this role, traditional IT infrastructure skills will be leveraged to support OT and manufacturing 4.0 initiatives.

As the site Subject Matter Expert in IT, it is expected that the position will involve implementation of simple visualization and development of Industrial applications. This will involve basic coding and/or SCADA implementation projects in order to respond to urgent site requirements.

Administration and Support of Local Resources

Support, manage, develop, implement and troubleshoot all local data rooms when possible as needed.

Rack, stack and cable IT servers, storage and related equipment.

Install, configure and maintain IT systems and technologies including but not limited to:

MS Windows workstation and servers. Red Hat Linux servers, Storage appliances/SAN, Vmware. VEEAM, Veritas NetBackup, Lansweeper, CyberX industrial network monitoring, Palo Alto firewall rulesets, and HP/Aruba switches.

Track incidents using Service Now ITSM through completion and documentation stages

Troubleshoot and resolve incidents. Ensure managed infrastructure is monitored for uptime, capacity and utilization and proper handling of service requests (major or minor changes), their recording and the follow-up through implementation.

Operations

Monitor resource usage and follow up on system performance and alerts.

Participate in the change management process (planning, follow-up, approval) and incident management (technical escalation, closing).

Perform routine disaster recovery testing.

Customer Relations

Provide innovative ideas to the business in regards to Industrial digital solutions through knowledge sharing and industry trends.

Ensure that customer needs are taken into account in line with the strategy defined by local Group.

Handle customer complaints, provide appropriate solutions and alternatives within the time limits; follow up to ensure resolution.

Resolve service problems by clarifying the customer's complaint; determining the cause of the problem; selecting and explaining the best solution to solve the problem; expediting correction or adjustment; following up to ensure resolution.

Manufacturing IT Infrastructure Management

Consult with local and regional management in the design purchase and implementation of IT systems for the manufacturing network.

Deliver infrastructure that follows Saint-Gobain IT standards and security compliance requirements as published.

Manage manufacturing IT assets through the entire systems lifecycle.

Upgrade and replace non-standard IT infrastructure hardware and operating systems.

Development and maintenance of new SCADA UI (using Inductive automations Ignition tool thru Python language) to visualize machine data as required.

Support and implement machine connectivity between PLC and the site OT network.

Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

 

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • Bachelor's degree (technical or business related) - Computer Science/Engineering Degree (Preferred)
  • 5+ years applicable work experience within IT and/or technical manufacturing experience (Preferred)
