WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

This position is responsible for managing the Little Rock, AR manufacturing facility to achieve operations goals and objectives regarding plant safety, profitability, capital investment, cost reduction programs, strategic operations planning, and maintaining a positive employee relations climate.

This position is responsible for leading all aspects of continuous improvement at this location, a multi-product operation that services Commercial Roofing. The Plant Manager holds the leading responsibility for the Little Rock plant facility and its operation.  Managers of the Production, Engineering, Materials Management, WCM, Quality, and HSE functions report directly to the manager.  

Customer Service, Human Resources, Finance, R&D & marketing/product support are located within the site & report directly to various other managers. 

  • Manage, direct, and coordinate all operations directly related to the production and shipment of all products produced by the facility: Materials Management, Manufacturing and Manufacturing Systems, Facilities Engineering/Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Shipping and Receiving, Process Engineering, Purchasing
  • Manage, direct, and coordinate Plant staff functions. Manage positive employee relations.
  • Staff all above functions, as appropriate to the most effective achievement of operational goals and objectives.
  • Design and administer effective Human Resources programs to equip employees to achieve business goals and to foster career development and organizational succession plans
  • Ensure that the facility is operating safely and in full environmental compliance.
  • Serve as principal facility communications liaison with other Waterproofing, Company, and external contacts
  • Prepare operational plans and budgets, and report to appropriate Management on actual performance vs. those plans.
  • Drive systematic cost improvement and state-of-the-art processing through WCM program.

IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in materials, manufacturing, chemical or mechanical engineering is required. A master's degree is a plus.
  • 10+ years of progressive operations experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Management and supervisory skills developed in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to foster and establish effective working relationships with management team, employees, and key corporate contacts will be critical to facilitating changes necessary to support overall process improvements.
  • High comprehension of P&L, cost accounting, cash flow, capital management, budgeting, and other financial concepts routinely used in planning and measuring plant performance.
  • Knowledge of materials and inventory control practices, production scheduling, and engineering in a manufacturing environment.
  • Know-how and skills to manage a unionized workforce.
  • Excellent communication skills, proven team-building skills, strong leadership skills, and be a hands-on leader
  • Ability to mentor and develop workforce. Organize motivate and guide the team to reach objectives.  Provide feedback and advice.
  • Transform vision into projects, clarify roles into assignments, and give clear directives.
  • Ability to listen to others and interact appropriately and constructively.

EHS Specialist

EHS Specialist - Saint Gobain - Garden Grove, CA

Under the leadership and guidance of the site EHS Manager, the Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist is responsible for coordination and implementation of the site’s Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs for the Garden Grove, CA facility.

  • Perform activities necessary to ensure that the facility is in compliance with all corporate, local, state and federal EHS regulations. Interact with outside vendors as necessary to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Coordination of the Annual Health & Safety Action Plan as well as Corporate mandated plans and objectives such as SMAT, TOS, NOS, Permit To Work Program, and various compliance programs.
  • Assist with the facilitation of EH&S meetings, Contractor and Visitor Health & Safety Orientations.
  • Stay up to date with the local, state and federal safety and health regulations and keep informed of all upcoming regulations and their effect upon the facility.
  • Assist in training staff on general safety policies and procedures to be followed by plant personnel in compliance with corporate, local, state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
  • Assist in identification, analysis and control of occupational hazards requiring the application of professional engineering knowledge, skill and abilities.
  • Facilitates inspection of facility to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards and recommends corrective or preventive measures where appropriate.
  • Assist in the research, planning, organizing, and conducting of safety programs, and seminars.
  • Writes material for new safety programs; reviews, evaluates, and modifies existing and proposed programs; recommends appropriate changes.
  • Assist managers, supervisors & operators with problems & answer any questions they may have concerning health and safety matters.
  • Assists with preparing and administering various safety programs.
  • Prepares and distributes safety program aids such as instructional material, handouts, evaluation forms, and visual aids; sets up audiovisual equipment and makes presentations when necessary.
  • Schedules and administers Forklift Safety Program and schedules one onsite safety shoe trucks each year for employees to purchase safety shoes.
  • Support adherence to EH&S Systems by hourly workforce, lead by example.
  • Will participate in the development, understanding and review of all position JSA’s.
  • Document Controller for all OSHA documents.
  • Maintain and update Corrective & Preventive Action, Objectives & Program and Performance Measurement & Monitoring Logs.
  • Collect/enter Near Miss/SMAT and Forklift SMAT card info into plant tracking spreadsheet.

 

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety and/or Environment discipline preferred but would consider a business degree with appropriate Manufacturing experience, required.
  • 2+ years experience in a Experience in a manufacturing environment 
  • Excellent computer skills with emphasis on Excel and familiarity software systems is necessary. Excellent analytical and negotiating skills, combined with good oral and written communication skills, and excellent organization, planning, purchasing and follow up skills will lead to success at this position. Ability to download, analyze and manipulate large amounts of data.

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates and provide the national pay range for this position which is $68,640 to $95,000 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 7% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $73,445 to $105,165. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.

This position is responsible for creation of custom injection mold tools for silicone injection molded components related to the life science biopharmaceutical manufacturing industry. Tooling will include the injection tooling, mandrels, fixturing, mandrel removal tools and any other required tooling for production to efficiently interact with the injection tool.

Candidate will have a high level of ability to design in SolidWorks and use PDM. Must be able to follow SOP’s, MOP’s and WIs for all work required. Candidate will also be able to work independently, be self-starting, and have a proven ability to collaborate with a team to optimize designs.

Candidates will also promote a safe working environment, comply with proper use of PPE, reports incidents, and participate in functional department safety meetings. Exhibits good environmental practices and procedures consistent with job(s) performed and EMS (Environmental Management System) requirements.

This job will be located on-site at Saint-Gobain Beaverton, Michigan.

Job Functions:

  • Design injection mold tooling, fixtures, guides – Simple tooling modifications to custom complex tooling
  • Maintain tool drawings as controlled documents using PDM
  • Eval Drawings for DVC
  • Creation of process drawings
  • General maintenance and organization of PDM files and physical inventory of sample components. 
  • Plant required training and activities (Smats, Pick 6, Boost, ect.)

  • Minimum 2-year degree in CAD or related field; required.
  • 3 -5 years of design experience; required.
  • Demonstrated technical, practical, and scientific knowledge of machining, fabrication, welding, and assembly as related to the creation of injection mold tooling; required.

Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Process Manager, the Engineering Co-op Student- Process is responsible for learning and developing engineering, project management, and leadership skills while actively undertaking and accomplishing assignments assigned to them.

The incumbent supports the Process team in the development, execution, and closing of capital projects.

Essential Functions:

  • Acquire and use practical and technical knowledge of the processes related to Manufacturing of Insulation
  • Collaborate with the technical and operations teams to analyze and improve existing manufacturing processes.
  • Complete tasks related to monitoring/trending and troubleshooting manufacturing processes
  • Assist with troubleshooting and solving problems related to process efficiency and product quality.
  • Assist in investigations through data compilation and statistical analysis to determine root cause to atypical events
  • Apply Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods to monitor process performance and identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Support the development and documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and process flow diagrams.
  • Compilation and analysis of process data. Presenting results and preparing reports
  • Assist in designing, testing, and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and product quality.
  • Use of SAP enterprise software to source information and navigate business operations

Hour work : 8 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday (the hours may vary)

Term : Spring 2025

Ottawa Insulation Plant

Acquired by CertainTeed in 2009, formerly Ottawa Fibre Inc.  The Ottawa plant manufactures fibre glass insulation in soft batts (with and without Kraft paper, commercial batt rolls, board insulation and blowing wool products).  The plant operates 24/7 365 days of the year and has a unionized workforce under the Unifor Union.  Wages are set by the Collective Agreement and currently range from $22.82 to $42.36 per hour.  Included for full time employees is an attractive Sun Life Benefit package (Medical & Dental), issued uniforms, boot allowances and a generous vacation entitlement.

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Co-op Student - Automation to join our dynamic team at the Ottawa Plant. This role provides an excellent opportunity to work on real-world projects, optimize manufacturing processes, and ensure quality standards in a fast-paced production environment.

Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Technical Service Manager, the Engineering Co-op Student- Automation is responsible for learning and developing engineering, project management, and leadership skills while actively undertaking and accomplishing assignments assigned to them.

This position will also support the plant and company strategic initiatives including capital projects that involve electrical process control systems and provide leadership in the implementation and support of plant automation, electrical and database systems.

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborates in  planning, evaluating, organizing, and implementing automation related projects and initiatives.
  • Assists in responsibilities include the designing or developing new process control systems and revision / maintenance of existing processes; developing and implementing WCM projects; managing and guiding contractors, consultants, and suppliers; identifying new opportunities and solutions with cost / benefit analysis and making recommendations to improve efficiencies.
  • Assists in planning and scheduling of projects and preparing capital expenditures.
  • Assists in Managing automation team’s workflow and automation related projects and provides weekly status report to plant management.
  • Participates in Focus Improvement teams to resolve critical process and production problems with customers and vendors.
  • Learns and provides technical expertise, support, and enhancement of automation related systems (PLC / HMI / VFD / Instrumentation / Data and Voice Networks / plant electrical distribution systems) and implements required updates to avoid technical obsolescence.
  • Ensures CertainTeed Gypsum’s standards of safety, quality and reliability are built into power distribution and control systems.
  • Supports maintenance team with any difficult troubleshooting issues.
  • Uses advanced tools / techniques to reduce process variations and downtime.
  • Participates in analyzing operating problems, develops solutions, and assists in the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Participates in providing training for operators and maintenance personnel.
  • Assures good housekeeping practices following 5S systems, enforces plant rules and safety regulations, and supports VMVO and WCM initiatives.

Hour work : 8 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday (the hours may vary)

Ottawa Insulation Plant

Acquired by CertainTeed in 2009, formerly Ottawa Fibre Inc.  The Ottawa plant manufactures fibre glass insulation in soft batts (with and without Kraft paper, commercial batt rolls, board insulation and blowing wool products).  The plant operates 24/7 365 days of the year and has a unionized workforce under the Unifor Union.  Wages are set by the Collective Agreement and currently range from $22.82 to $42.36 per hour.  Included for full time employees is an attractive Sun Life Benefit package (Medical & Dental), issued uniforms, boot allowances and a generous vacation entitlement.

Compression Operator

WHY DO WE NEED YOU ?

3rd Shift Days/Hours: Sunday-Thursday, 10:30pm-7:00am

The Compression Molding Operator will perform tasks associated with the production of molded Thermoplastic and Thermoset materials used in the Aerospace and Industrial industries. This position will set-up all required mold tooling and materials per work order instructions. In addition, this role will be responsible for operating molding presses, handling tool equipment and forklift operations to perform job duties. The role is responsible for running production orders safely while maintaining quality of molded product.

Essential Functions:

• Weigh and load preforms into molds of various sizes.

• Hand load inserts into molds. • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements and by following manufacturer's instructions, informing supervisors and team leads when machinery needs serviced.

• Unload finished parts using various hand tools.

• Manually control processes using electronic controls and gages.

• Trim and deburr parts using hand tools and shop routers. • Make quality parts that meet customer specifications and deadlines, without rejection, in a fast paced work environment.

• Complete all paperwork correctly and legibly.

• Follow all safety requirements pertaining to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and operation of equipment.

• Maintains work space before, during, and after each scheduled shift in accordance with 5S principles.

• Follow work order instructions and perform part inspection for dimension and quality.

• Contribute to team effort by performing other supporting tasks as directed by the Shift Supervisor or Lead.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent is preferred.

• Previous compression molding experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

• 6+ months' experience working in a manufacturing environment is required.
