Senior Process Engineer - Site

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

The Site Senior Process Engineer plays a pivotal role in supporting and advancing process improvement and industrialization initiatives across three manufacturing units—Lamination, Forming, and Films—within the Wayne facility. This position leads technical projects, implements best-in-class engineering methodologies, and acts as a cross-functional liaison to drive operational excellence and innovation in alignment with the business strategy and as a technical referent for the plant.

IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?

  • Bachelor's degree within an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Chemical, Material Science or Materials Engineering) required. Master degree in engineering (Industrial/mechanical/Chemical) preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in Engineering project management & process engineering in a manufacturing environment required.
  • 2+years of experience of having a proven track record in process development, industrialization, and project management required
  • 2+ years of experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other structured methodologies preferred.
  • Technical problem-solving and data analysis as well as effective communication across cultural and functional boundaries required.
  • Knowledge of stamping/forming/ equipment / Steel slitting/ chamfering/ Welding / Extrusion / Composite / Polymers / Syntering and strong project management skills (stage-gate, risk mitigation, validation) preferred.

Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Lead and manage strategic industrial process improvement projects, including yield optimization, flow enhancement, and waste elimination initiatives.
  • Drive the industrialization of new processes and potentially new products, using rigorous stage-gate methodologies (e.g., Equipment Product Management, CAPEX Early Equipment Management). Contribute to the transition to Industry 4.0.
  • Collaborate with production unit leaders, maintenance, and technical teams to support operations and solve complex process issues.
  • Act as a site technical referent for: Local process engineering community, technical center and application engineers, promoting knowledge sharing and capability building and shared R&D centers and other regions, within technical global communities and global projects initiatives

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer potential candidates. Provided is the national pay range for this position which is $89,500 to $138,500 per year. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 12% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $100,200-TTC to $155,100-TTC. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee

The primary role of this position is to support application engineering activities related to plastics extrusion projects and to provide technical solutions to aid the development and improvement of Saint-Gobain products.

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct extrusion tooling and process improvements for new products and processes.
  • Perform various tasks including cleaning of extruders/dryers, filling hoppers, coiling tubing, monitoring extrusion size, mixing resins, assembling hoses, burst testing, bend testing, etc.
  • Be able to start, run, and make adjustments on development extrusion jobs per skills matrix.
  • Set-up, operates and trouble shoots extruders of varying sizes and complexities.
  • Assist in creating Routings, Billing of Materials (BOMs), Work Instructions, One Point Lessons (OPLs), and relevant documentation on developmental projects.
  • Assist in the generation of development tooling drawings using CAD program.
  • Assist in performing Installation, Operation, and Process Qualifications (IOP/Q) and Management of Change (MOC) requirements on new programs and equipment. 
  • Assist in program development validations and performs process capability studies.  Train the Production Department personnel on new programs.  
  • Will be responsible for the quality of all sample product manufactured and in assuring that product specifications are met and standards maintained.

Must have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical certification is desired.
  • Ability to operate independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic command of the English language, written and verbal.
  • Able to read instructions, labels and manuals.

  • Must have sufficient mathematical aptitude to perform calculations necessary to maintain accurate production records and determine dimensional and tolerance requirements of product.

Field Service Representative

**The ideal candidate will reside in the Portland, OR area**

The principal function of the Field Service Representative is to coordinate, perform and provide reports regarding on-site inspections. This position also requires technical knowledge of proper application methods for siding and roofing products. Problem solving skills/knowledge while on-site is a must. This position requires the ability to train siding installers and roofers concerning proper installation methods. This position requires the ability to stay calm in sensitive situations while performing inspections or while speaking to customers on the phone.

Inspect roofing, siding (and other products deemed necessary by CertainTeed management) at the request of CertainTeed Technical Services (Roofing), Warranty and Technical Services (Siding) and/or at the request of a plant Quality Manager. Initiate and file a report based on inspection observations. Must be able to diagnose a claimed issue while in the field performing inspections. This requires a high level of problem solving skills and building envelope technical expertise. Must be able to stay calm in sensitive situations in the performance of your inspections. Provide onsite training as needed for warranty related repairs and concerns directly to the contractor. Additional responsibilities that are assigned by the Technical Services Manager or the Field Service Supervisor must be completed in a timely manner. Also, to perform assigned administrative tasks such as reports and other assigned tasks within time restraints.

60% Perform on-site diagnostic inspections of roofing and siding systems, product claims and extended warranties. Operate a drone for inspection data collection.

15% Provide objective and detailed documentation in preparation of on-site inspection reports.

5% Complete and maintain the FAA required licensing for drone operation.

10% Coordinate site visits, provide assigned reports/tasks within a timely manner.

10% Support Portland Quality Lab warranty claim function as assigned.

Must be able to safely climb ladders and traverse uneven roof surfaces (with slopes up to 6/12) in many different climates. Must be able to perform job duties in all climates and on active construction sites.

What’s the job?

The primary role of Process Technician is to safely accomplish all of the production, quality, and cleaning tasks normally associated with the department. WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

Scope: Maintain and repair plant equipment and property and must be available for emergency call-ins to ensure optimum production capacity.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and inspection on equipment per SOPs and report to immediate supervisor any abnormal observation/s using work order request.
  • Attend to emergency repair and troubleshooting of equipment.
  • Perform assigned weekly maintenance schedule 
  • Communicate and cooperate with fellow employees to maintain quality, operational efficiency, and safety environment.  
  • Operate from work orders request and Supervisor’s weekly maintenance schedules
  • Perform and conduct Predictive and Annual PM Maintenance as directed by the Supervisor
  • Follow any Local, States, and Federal Codes when installing new equipment and its related accessories.
  • Conduct snow plowing, shoveling or sweeping from sidewalks, building entrances and apply de-icer as required.
  • Conduct building and ground maintenance as required.
  • Ensure Safety and Security of the building and its surroundings.
  • Maintain cleanliness around maintenance shop including equipment work area as per company’s 5S policy and guidelines.
  • Participate in self-development and training of maintenance staff and others.
  • Exhibit safety awareness and safe work practices such as lock-out tag out; communicate status of your troubleshooting work, etc.
  • Implement and execute all environmental policies in accordance with ISO 14001 standard
  • Perform shift turnover (1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 1st) regarding the equipment problem/s encountered and report to immediate Supervisor or to Maintenance Lead Person.
  • Follow Maintenance SOP and Process Instrument Calibration SOP
  • Perform and record critical process instrument calibration as per SOP.
  • Follow and implement energy conservation program in the plant
  • Perform other related duties as required or as directed by immediate Supervisor.
  • Understand all environmental policies and significant environmental impact of job activities in accordance with the ISO 14001 standard.

Qualifications:

  • Associate Engineering Technology graduate or High School diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 10 years experience in Electrical and Process Instrument Troubleshooting or

  • Continuously and reliably carry projects through to completion with little assistance from supervisor. Projects involve the extension of present or new technology in one or more areas, involving improvement and/or development of formulations or products, processes, techniques, characterization and fundamental knowledge.
  • Provides technical assistance to support projects led by others in the competency research lab or various Saint-Gobain businesses. Participates in technical meetings with internal customers (oral presentations / written reports).
  • Visits Saint-Gobain manufacturing locations to transition projects to manufacturing and / or to consult with the plants on how to optimize their operations.
  • Manages and documents projects effectively under minimal supervision by a technical leader or direct manager.

Senior Research Engineer I - Mobility ENC

The selected candidate will be expected to lead R&D projects through effective collaboration with R&D colleagues, commercial, and manufacturing team members, application engineers, external customers, and external suppliers. The candidate will create and execute project plans, design, and conduct experiments, analyze data, and present findings in written and oral formats. The candidate will act as a materials expert internally to support a variety of programs and platforms in different markets.

The main job duties will include:

  • Manages projects from inception through scale-up. Manages multiple projects simultaneously, on time, well documented, and within budget. Able to balance creativity with process and documentation.
  • Extensively utilizes research and/or project experiences and broad expertise of high temperature/high-performance polymers, materials, processes, techniques, and products to improve on or develop products, increase performance, or reduce costs, to maximize production and/or support fundamental research within high-performance polymers such as polyimides, polyamide-imide and polyaryl ketones as well as engineering polymers.
  • Incumbent defines the associated tasks and milestones for research and proposes the technical approach, cost estimates, and time schedule. Upon approval, the incumbent is responsible for equipment purchases, prototype development, supervision of the project team, and compilation of results and recommendations
  • Stays aware of new technology applications and competitive uses of same in work with materials, products, and processes, and in the development of new knowledge.
  • Seeks out others to enhance and streamline development and decision-making.
  • Keeps project teams on track with project timelines and budgets.
  • Understands Gate Process methodology/ideology and utilizes and incorporates it in research projects
