Position Description
Job Summary

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

This employee must demonstrate core skills, which include understanding company safety policies, adherence to the SGC Principles of Conduct and Action guidelines, as well as, the five SGC Attitudes. Also 5-S requirements, sustaining the process and general housekeeping guidelines are required. Employee must follow verbal and written instructions and have knowledge of product line and manufacturing standards. The normal operating duties are listed below are not intended to be inclusive and may change depending on unforeseen circumstances or are assigned by supervision for success of the operation.

Night Shift: 6:30PM - 7AM

Compensation: $34.04/HR

  • Able to work independent or with a team
  • Ensure safety of employees
  • Ensure security of the plant on designated shifts
  • Able to communicate effectively across all departments including members of the ELT
  • Have basic Microsoft Office knowledge (Word, Excel, PPT)
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ensure adequate supplies for the task on hand e.g. raw material supplies, cleaning supplies, 5S supplies
  • 5S implementation and routine follow ups of work area and equipment
  • Provide coverage for shift supervisor for absence or vacations when needed
  • Ensure the area is producing at the highest level of quality
  • Start up and shut down equipment as instructed on the start-up & shut down procedures
  • Train, Coach & Mentor new and existing employees
  • Manage workforce around the company’s “Values”.
  • Investigate and report incidents e.g. spills, accidents, poor performance
  • Assume any operator position if the situation dictates
  • Suggest and implement cost savings
  • Suggest and implement Lean Methodology (help eliminate unnecessary waste without compromising the quality of the product)
  • Perform administrative duties when necessary

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • High School Diploma or GED, plus 5 years manufacturing experience
  • Ability to work with computers, other technology and MS Office requirements.
  • In order to abide by certain OSHA and local government agency regulations, mandatory safety training, protective gear and chemical handling procedures are required.

Quality Engineer - Beaverton, MI
Position Description
Job Summary

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

The Quality Engineer I will be responsible for ensuring products conform to established requirements and standards through appropriate audit, inspection, and test activities. Interacts with multiple cross-functional departments, customers, suppliers, and experts outside of Saint-Gobain to implement Saint-Gobain quality objectives.

Formulates procedures, specifications and standards for Saint-Gobain products and processes. Understands how to investigate and determine root causes for nonconformances, taking that knowledge to develop and implement corrective/preventive action plans. Collects and analyzes data to ensure the Quality Management System (QMS) is in compliance with standards and regulations. Will have a basic understanding of ISO 13485, 21 CFR 820 regulations, quality systems, design assurance, FMEA, product testing methods. Previous experience in a clean room environment a plus.

Promotes a safe working environment, complies with proper use of PPE, reports incidents, and participates in functional department safety meetings. Exhibits good environmental practices and procedures consistent with job(s) performed and EMS (Environmental Management System) requirements.

Essential Job Functions

  • Investigate nonconformance’s, determine root cause and create corrective/preventive action plans.
  • Write technical protocols, reports, and procedures.
  • Work with customers/suppliers to ensure needs are met from a quality perspective. 
  • Assist with manufacturing process improvements.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences or Engineering discipline; required.
  • 1- 3 Years experience in a Quality role; required.
  • Basic knowledge and ability to apply QSR/ISO regulations to ensure compliance; preferred.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and build relationships outside the department as well as outside the company (suppliers, customers, regulatory agencies, etc.); required.
  • Strong in use of statistical techniques & Six Sigma/WCM tools; preferred.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, products, and product applications; required.

Job Summary

The Production Supervisor is accountable for overseeing production crews to attain production, cost and quality goals while maintaining a safe work environment.  The position schedules the appropriate staff to meet production demands and monitors shift progress to meet expected key performance indicators. Review end of shift reports and ensure accuracy and thoroughness of report.
  • Time & Attendance - Schedule employees including Overtime, ensure UKG timecard accuracy and meet deadlines for payroll.
  • Compliance – Administer Company policy, practice & procedure. Work with HR on issues that require support and/or intervention. Raise concerns with employee behaviors, activities to your manager and/or HR.
  • Communication – Provide essential communication for production crew. Share business updates and news coming from site and/or business
  • People Leadership - Oversee training, coach, develop, and performance manage employees. Respectfully communicate opportunities for improvement related to key metrics (Yield & Uptime).

Maintenance Manager

Job Summary

It is the objective of the Maintenance Manager to coordinate personnel, material, and technical resources to optimize equipment and facility usage. To serve as a technical and planning resource to all personnel for equipment, process, and facility needs. In addition, this position ensures parts availability for planned maintenance activities.   • Plan, schedule, & coordinate the above activities (ID necessary resources & ensure availability through the SAP work order system)

  • Supervise maintenance personnel, schedule overtime, promote employee-centered department
  • Accurately track equipment history and parts usage through the SAP work order system
  • Working with production and maintenance personnel to identify preventative maintenance activities necessary to support operations
  • Coordinate predictive maintenance activities
  • Participate in capital expense projects, and leadership initiatives, and drive a safe culture 

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • BA Business or Engineering, four-year degree or equivalent combination of education/relevant work experience
  • 6-8 years of maintenance supervisory experience
  • 4-5 years of basic mechanical and electrical experience
  • Knowledge of SAP & Microsoft Suite
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Know and understand the safety and quality policies
  • Complete all safety and quality training required for the specific position
  • Follow all safety and quality rules and procedures and remind others

Reliability Engineer
Position Description
Job Summary

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

The Reliability Engineer will be responsible for investigating and problem solving plant reliability issues, utilizing World Class Manufacturing (WCM) techniques and principles. This position will support the maintenance department in the rationalization, planning, scheduling, and at times execution of maintenance activities to drive improved, sustainable plant reliability in a manner consistent with CertainTeed Roofing’s Objectives. The Reliability Engineer will also provide leadership in the implementation and support of plant process modifications for both Roofing and Granule operations as required.

  • Identifies new opportunities and solutions with cost/benefit analysis and makes recommendations to improve efficiencies.
  • Performs root cause analysis (RCA) and implement sustainable countermeasures on losses related to downtime.
  • Analyzes / stratifies accurate data and information from records to prepare reports, statistics, etc. in support of continuous improvement of reliability.
  • Revises and maintains existing processes; develops and implements WCM initiatives, manages and guides contractors, consultants, and suppliers.
  • Leads and participates in Yellow Belt Breakdown projects following the WCM methodologies to become certified in the Reliability pillar.
  • Ensures full documentation of all projects and systems to WCM, Technical Office, and/or Project Management Office (PMO) standards.
  • Prepares and maintains data sheets, wiring, and Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), flow charts, and Bill of Materials required for the proper and efficient operation of plant equipment as part of reliability projects.
  • Progressively improves the Professional Maintenance status of all equipment on a prioritized basis using WCM techniques and ensures sustainability of completed improvements by the Maintenance team.
  • Collaborates with Plant and Corporate Resources (ex: Engineering, Maintenance, Production) to develop a Preventive Maintenance program that drives improved reliability.
  • Supports Autonomous Maintenance through training & coaching of Operators and ensuring that equipment basic conditions are maintained. Provides training for Operators and Maintenance personnel.
  • Develops and implements standard operating & maintenance procedures, and work instructions.
  • Supports the Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Creates, reviews, and enhances detailed maintenance tasks and routines configured within the CMMS.
  • Provides input into planning and scheduling of projects and preparing expense & capital expenditures.
  • Responsible for planning, evaluating, organizing, and implementing assigned installation, maintenance and repair activities and coordinating with other departments to assure minimum downtime for production and maximum safety of employees.
  • Assists in automation training of technicians, associated automation troubleshooting, and reduction in mean time to repair automation failures.
  • Assures good housekeeping practices following 5S principles, enforces plant rules and safety regulations.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities that support business needs as required.

 

 

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of applied professional experience in a continuous process manufacturing environment
  • 5 years’ experience as a Reliability Engineer or similar (preferred)
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities & the ability to work independently on assigned tasks
  • Flexible and open-minded with good written and oral communication
  • Strong influencing skills needed to motivate change management
  • Knowledge and demonstrated utilization of Continuous Improvement tools and methodologies

This position is responsible for the development, implementation and management of a complete plant Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) program for Wheatfield, NY site (Seeded Gel and Ekonol) to minimize all safety risks and reduce potential liabilities.

The incumbent ensures compliance with all EHS procedures and establishes and promotes the maintenance of a safe, accident free and healthy work environment, thereby eliminating or controlling hazardous conditions resulting from human error, equipment and machine operations which may lead to human injury and or property damage.

The incumbent must comply with, and when possible, exceed applicable Saint-Gobain EHS standards, as well as federal and provincial/local environmental regulations through the implementation of our EHS plans and Pollution Prevention.

The incumbent is also responsible for managing the Wheatfield ISO14001 program and supports all 9001 ISO activity.

In addition, the incumbent manages the Wheatfield Chemical Security Program.

This position supports the implementation and sustainment of the 5S program at the site. The position works closely with the operational team to implement standards and effective training across the site.

The Sustainability piece of this role will require closely working with the business level leadership to carry out Sustainability initiatives at the site level. Creating awareness and an engaging culture for these initiatives to thrive will be paramount.
