Position: Instrument and Control Technician

Location: Palatka, Florida

Day Shift

Hourly Rate: Level A: $31.97, Level B: $25.64 - $30/HR

Essential Functions

  • This I&C position is a training opportunity for a potential PLC position.
  • Individual will be responsible for calibrating and maintaining calibration logs of all plant instrumentation.
  • Individual will be responsible for ensuring all plant instrumentation and control devices are updated in SAP (with an attached PM, in development) and maintaining a library of all plant I/C devices in the shared drive and DPCTrack2.
  • Individual will be responsible for completing and/or coordinating PM’s for all the plants instrumentation and control equipment.
  • Individual will be responsible for motor testing (MCE / PdMA) program and Infrared (IR) studies of plant electrical equipment
  • Individual will aid in the installation and replacement of plant electrical components such as motors and VFDs
  • Individual will work and train closely with the I&C Supervisor and the Electrical Controls Engineer to learn how to set up and modify the plants control systems. This will include some formal on and off site training.
  • This position will report directly to the I&C Supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • This position will be filled by an associate who normally performs an existing maintenance function.
  • The individual can be asked to assist with equipment failures or cover for absent electricians as deemed necessary by supervision.
  • There is a preference for being on straight day shift with the possibility of being on rotating shift as needed to support plant operation, which includes multi-craft work.

Job Summary

The Role

Warehouse Associate will be expected to perform all duties and responsibilities for the operations in his/her assigned area. The successful candidate will follow plant, departmental, and job safety policies as well as know, understand, and demonstrate a thorough knowledge of safe operating procedures, including housekeeping requirements. The candidate should have a basic knowledge and understanding of all quality procedures and guidelines, possess the ability to communicate with the previous shift regarding proper counts and any other issues. The Warehouse Associate will be able to identify the non-quality products and report problems, report unsafe conditions and correct immediately, learn and use computer systems for Quality and Production reporting. The ability to communicate with other associates and areas to ensure a good working environment is imperative. The Warehouse Associate must be able to: • Work a set schedule on 1st shift or 2nd shift Monday - Friday. • Report to scheduled work shift on time every day • Work overtime as required • Work in an environment that is hot in the summer and cold in the winter • Wear personal protective equipment that may include: hearing protection, steel toe boots, safety glasses, FR clothing, Hard Hats, masks, and respirators • Lift, push, pull up to 70 lbs. • Carry up to 50 lbs. • Safely operate a powered industrial vehicle (forklift, etc.) • Safely load product on flatbed trailers • Work productively as a member of a team Starting pay is $17.50/hour and benefits begin on the first day of employment!

Requirements

Heavy Equipment Operator
Position Description
Job Summary

The Role

The Active Storage shift operator will be responsible for feeding raw materials (DSG, Natural Rock, Reclaim, etc) into feeders from stock piles of material. This individual will report directly to the Active Storage and Mill Supervisor.

The Active Storage Operator will be responsible for: operating the front-end loader, forklift, dump truck, bulldozer, water truck, and other mobile equipment. Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Self-motivating, and be able to work with minimal supervision, troubleshoot and independently fix a wide range of process and equipment issues while maintaining housekeeping during the shift.

Requirements

  • 5 plus years of Heavy Equipment experience (Preferred)
  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • Valid Drivers License (Preferred)
  • Ability to work Rotating 12- hour Rotating Swing Shift, days, nights and weekends
  • Ability to work in a team based setting.
  • Manufacturing experience: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Strong analytical skills with a vast knowledge of formulas and mathematics
  • Proficient PC skills (desired)
  • Ability to demonstrate acceptable attendance and work shifts as scheduled

Additional Requirements

  • Must know and abide by all aspects of the plant and departmental safety programs.

  • Operation of Trommel Screen.
  • Operation of Reclaim System
  • All areas of responsibility must be swept, all equipment (guards, electrical panels, etc.) dusted off daily.
  • Empty all trash cans and buckets before end of each shift.
  • Complete other housekeeping assignments per instructions of the Department Manager.
  • Completion of Pre-Shift/Walk around Inspection of heavy equipment.

Industrial Engineer II - Beaverton, MI
Position Description
Job Summary

This position is responsible for development, maintenance and improvement of work standards management utilizing industrial engineering tools and WCM problem solving methodology. During all activities this position will utilize, establish and/or maintain validated standards working in the Industrialization Engineering team utilizing proper change control and within proper approvals.

Typical job activities include the evaluation and improvement of manufacturing processes. Implementing methods to drive quality control and the reduction of waste. Improving productivity through process/procedure and tooling improvements. Development and implementation of standardized work instructions. Leading of improvement projects to improve production efficiencies, reduce waste, improve material flow, standardize the elements of work and to develop and maintain time standards. Skillsets should include project management, time studies, ergonomics, station & plant layouts, PFDs, VSMs and PFMEAs.

Areas of focus will include compounding, extrusion, assembly, molding, and packaging. All projects will require a mindset with the safety and quality of our employees and customers in focus.

This person should have a proven high level of analytical ability to manage data. They should have the ability to apply lean manufacturing to developing systems and instructions with history of demonstrated success using time studies, 5S, Six Sigma / WCM principles.

This role will require an in-depth knowledge of our products/processes, the soft skills necessary with working in a team, and the project management abilities to define, execute, and complete a variety of projects/tasks. Some tasks may include (but are not limited to): Change Orders, Validations (raw materials, equipment, parts and processes), Tech Transfers, and Process Improvements.

This person will work with internal and external customers to design, coordinate, implement and maintain site processes and products. This person will execute and manage projects for technology transfer between Saint-Gobain sites and potentially externally.

This role will work with functional teams as leader to specify, design, procure and implement equipment / process / tooling that is in compliance with equipment specifications, meets IOQ, OQ & PQ process / product validation requirements. Manage and troubleshoot activities related to customer complaints and maintain routed standards.

Promotes a safe working environment, complies with proper use of PPE, reports incidents, and participates in functional department safety meetings. Exhibits good environmental practices and procedures consistent with job(s) performed and EMS (Environmental Management System) requirements.

Other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • Development & Maintenance of work standards based on elements of work and work instructions based on process families
  • Continuous improvement projects dealing with industrial engineering time studies, flow improvement investigations, and development of development of work element standardization
  • Trouble shoot processes and problems for areas of responsibility.  Plan and conduct experiments on current production processes and engineering improvements to characterize process windows.
  • Implementation of equipment.  Creation, review and implementation of IOQ/OQ/PQ validations for equipment and processes.
  • Special projects – working with other engineers, focus factory, and manufacturing engineering.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Biomedical, Materials or Chemical Engineering discipline; required.
  • Master's Degree in Industrial, Biomedical, Materials or Chemical Engineering or similar; preferred.
  • 3 or more years of progressive work experience and project management &/or industrial engineering; required.
  • 3 or more years of being proactive in problem solving with demonstrated proficiency in applying WCM/6σ tools.
  • 3 or more years of experience in manufacturing operations; preferred.
  • Management of complex projects – ideally technology transfers; required.
  • Able to lead work to completion where interactions with cross functional groups such as industrial engineering resources, production workers, improvement teams, Quality, Validations, and Customer(s) are required to be effective; required.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

Qualifications & Skills:

This position requires an individual with a proven track record who is a self-starter, highly motivated, creative, and personable team player who can succeed with minimal supervision. A Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent experience is required. The incumbent should have proven sales and marketing skills and an ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written. Proven analytical, negotiating, problem-solving, and organizational skills are necessary. This means the incumbent must be skilled at working with and cultivating relationships with Welding, Industrial, & Construction Distribution in the territory. Skills required include working with distributor salespeople, training presentations & demonstrations, POP installation & maintenance activity, and regular planning & review of target account growth plans. The incumbent must be capable of using all Microsoft Office software, web applications, contact management database software, and other forms of data mining and analysis.

Pay Transparency:

Certain states require pay information be provided in job postings. The national pay range for this position is $87,500 to $135,500 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 65% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The total target cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $144,375 to $223,575. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.

We are seeking an Electrical and Instrumentation Technician for the Seven Hill-Lynchburg paper mill facility. The E&I Technician will support the manufacturing of gypsum liner paper by providing quality maintenance duties to enhance the mill’s equipment reliability and availability. The E&I Technician will utilize their skills and knowledge of electrical equipment, electronics, instrumentation, pneumatics, hydraulics, and rigging in our continuous paper manufacturing environment to safely help achieve production goals.

Job Duties:

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace electrical, electronic, and instrumentation devices.
  • Interpret blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to troubleshoot and maintain process control systems.
  • Initiate and complete work orders and document all critical and or pertinent information on a routine basis.

What you need to succeed:

  • Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude required with extensive troubleshooting experience.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair mill-wide electrical power systems, working with AC and DC voltages ranging from 12, 24, and 500 VDC to 120/240, 480, 575, 2300, and AC.
  • Install and maintain electrical distribution equipment and components, working with electrical conductors, conduits, cable trays, power panels, and motor control centers.
  • Operational knowledge of automated industrial machinery including motors, solenoids, servos, pumps, drives, relays, 3-phase power, communication devices, industrial/electronic controls, and power transmission systems
  • Ability to install and set up both A/C drives.
  • Ability to install and troubleshoot basic 3-phase motor control circuits
  • Knowledge of the various types of flow, pressure, level, temperature sensors, and transmitters.
  • Working knowledge of control valves.
  • Various proximity, flow, pressure, and limit switches.
  • A good understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • PLC troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • A High School Diploma / GED is required.
  • 5+ years of Instrumentation and Electrical experience in a production maintenance environment or equivalent military experience is required.
  • Journeyman or proof of completion of related college or apprenticeship program preferred.
  • Capable of meeting physical requirements to include working weekends/holidays, working a rotating shift schedule, including weekends and overtime as needed, and working around heat, and noise, both inside and outside.
  • Computer skills including MS Office and ability to quickly learn new software used in the department.
  • Strong electrical background with experience in 480-volt 3-phase power distribution and Controls.
  • Basic understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers and Distributed Control Systems.
  • Ability to read and understand Electrical and Instrumentation Drawings and PLC Ladder Logic.
  • Experience with variable frequency drives and smart field instruments (i.e., pressure, flow, temperature, level and analytical transmitters, valve positioners, valve actuators, and PID controllers) is necessary.
  • E/I must be able to operate equipment including but not limited to cranes (mobile and stationary), fork trucks, and other lifting devices.

Extruder Operator Helper Trainee
Position Description
Job Summary

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

Safety is of primary importance to this and all positions. The Extruder Operator Trainee is primarily responsible to pack product and assist in production line operations. They must be able to maintain a well-organized and clean work station as well as update required documentation to ensure a quality product. Dependability, reliability, as well as teamwork with co-workers is an essential part of this job. All operations will be under supervision from Helper Trainers and Supervisors during the training period.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Perform job in a safe manner following all rules, regulations, and training. Perform daily safety inspections and report all unsafe conditions or Near Miss events immediately. Wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required, including designated PPE for Trainees. Use hand tools as intended. Follow all environmental and housekeeping requirements, properly dispose of trash, regularly sweep keeping material, oil and water off floors and keep contaminated material from entering process water system. Ensure that the line is cleaned during and prior to the end of the work shift.
  • Package product per specification under supervision of Helper Trainers and Supervisors - make boxes, correctly code labels, properly configure and nest product, glue and secure packaging, configure and build product onto pallet, insert slip sheets, band product to pallet and insure that product is secure before warehousing.
  • Assist in the operation of production lines. Assist in line checks and look for product defects. Manage pigment containers, regrind totes, ASA boxes, material hoses to the silos, daybins, and hoppers.
  • Operate peripheral line equipment – online grinder, scrap cutter, and boxing table. Assist in clearing jam-ups of material from machine works, pull and segregate bacon strips, manage line sags, purge out lines, re-string lines, assist in product and color changes, assist in changing sizers, and properly segregate and rack regrind and isolate contaminated material to scrap. Ensure inventory of boxes, banding, glue, and labels is maintained on line. Change over boxing table during product changes.
  • Perform to all quality expectations, isolate/ report all defects, ensure that the product meets all dimensional and cosmetic standards, abide by all ISO 9001 systems, adhere to all MADE standards and follow SPC guidelines under guidance of Helper Trainers and Supervisors
  • Accuracy - Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly is essential.
  • Communication (Oral) - Ability to communicate with Supervisor, Extruder Operator and Set-ups, co- workers and managers effectively is essential.
  • Detail Orientated - Ability to note minute detail impacting product quality and packaging is critical.

Our primary business is profile extrusion.  The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the department to meet the site's growth, profitability, design, manufacturing and quality needs.  Will be responsible for daily supervision of the department personnel, process improvements, and projects to improve the site.  This position assists Production, Quality, R&D, Sales and Marketing in resolving technical issues and in coordinating the improvement of existing processes.

  • Project management - Through subordinates, identify, develop, design, implement, and qualify new equipment, automation, and products that improve the performance of the plant.
  • Process improvement - Continuously improve existing processes or create new ones that support operations and engineering functions and drive the facility toward optimal efficiency utilizing Lean methodology.  Select and implement new projects and technology to support these improvements.  Assist in the resolution of product/process quality issues by supporting and/or performing root cause investigations, CAPA identification/implementation, and change management processes.
  • Personnel Development - Provide training, experiential opportunities and regular feedback for engineers and other team members, which allow them the best opportunities for personal and professional growth.  Develop new employees to met the needs of the business as it is today and what is needed to maintain an competitive edge in the future.

Additional Requirements

The successful individual:

  • Must have experience in a plastics' manufacturing environment, the ability to provide leadership and innovation at all organizational levels, be adaptable; and have customer and supply focus.
  • Good written and oral communication, with the ability to quickly solve problems and recommend solutions. 
  • Strong organizational and decision-making skills are a must.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Business or relatable course of study is required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • 7+ years' of plastic manufacturing operations experience (extrusion preferred).
