Siding Products Group (SPG) is seeking a driven, talented, and experienced Extrusion Process Manager to join our team. This role is pivotal in driving process excellence through Industry 4.0 methodologies, employing both tactical and strategic approaches to support our growing business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Cross-Functional Teams: Effectively manage and lead cross-functional teams to execute and deliver project objectives
- Process Improvement: Develop and support process improvement projects in material blending, compound and additive feeding, and extrusion processing. This includes equipment identification and setup, troubleshooting process inefficiencies, and ensuring process control
- Collaboration: Work closely with R&D, Quality & Process Control, Plant Operations, Project Engineers, and Product Managers to create and execute project plans, design and conduct experiments, analyze data, and present findings
- Project Proposals: Propose projects and programs essential to the operational direction of the group
- Process Optimization: Serve as a subject matter expert in extrusion process, driving improvements to enhance quality, efficiency, and reduce waste using Six Sigma and Lean methodologies
- Equipment Performance: Optimize and troubleshoot extrusion equipment for optimum performance, implement preventive maintenance, and support upgrades for reliability and technology
- Continuous Improvement: Lead cost reduction initiatives, process automation, and material optimization to enhance production performance
- Quality & Compliance: Ensure adherence to industry standards, troubleshoot defects, and develop process documentation for consistency
- Mentoring & Collaboration: Train and mentor production teams, support skill development, and work cross-functionally with R&D, quality, and maintenance teams
Essential Functions:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive blending, feeding and extrusion process strategy for vinyl manufacturing plants, aligning with business strategy and industry trends
- Oversee multiple process optimization projects, ensuring they are well-defined, properly resourced, and executed within established timelines, while fostering strong collaboration with Production, Engineering, R&D and Quality & Process Control. Facilitate seamless communication to ensure a cohesive approach to Extrusion processing optimization while monitoring the process, allocating resources effectively and adapting strategies as needed. And assuring full ownership in driving and executing these projects to deliver best in class safety, process optimization and product quality resulting in overall operational excellence
- Be up to date on new technologies and advancements in blend, extrusion, and feeding process

What do you bring?
Education:
- High School Diploma and Bachelor's Degree Required
- Master's Degree Preferred
Work Experience:
- 5+ years of hand-on experience with manufacturing processes/extrusion equipment in an industrial setting.
- 15+ years of manufacturing experience
- Utilize a broad technical background to develop and improve material blending and feeding, compounding, and extrusion processes, including cost reduction using state-of-the-art technology.
- Promote SPG’s sustainability efforts by aligning projects with business needs and expectations.
- As the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for extrusion, train plant resources to ensure knowledge transfer and successful application of extrusion science.
- Provide final support for complex blend through extrusion issues during plant upset conditions.
- Stay informed about new technology applications and competitive uses, applying this knowledge to personal research and product development.
- Provide technical leadership to associates and colleagues throughout the extrusion plants community.
- Manage and lead multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time, well-documented, and within budget to meet business and customer objectives.
- Demonstrate an open and collaborative approach in all areas of responsibility, seeking out others to enhance and streamline development and decision-making.
- Communicate technically with internal competencies, university collaborators, and customers to advance projects and identify productive synergies.
- Complete standard deliverables for project management through interactions with internal contacts and all functions.
- Develop, procure, and deliver solutions and equipment to improve operational efficiency, production output, quality, and safety.
- Operate in accordance with OSHA and SDS standards.
- Collect, track, and evaluate production data to drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with R&D to ensure the efficient scale-up of new products.
- Analyze and determine the capabilities and limitations of new, proposed, or existing equipment.
- Evaluate machinery, equipment, tooling, and vendors.
- Work with subject matter experts and vendors to develop and launch innovative technologies that improve manufacturing processes.
- Communicate and resolve technical issues as they arise.
