In this role the Human Resources Manager is a true Generalist and is a key resource for the Brownsville, TX plant providing comprehensive HR support for the administration and implementation of a wide range of programs in a multi-shift manufacturing facility. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to employee relations, benefits, recruiting, HRIS, compensation, training, recruiting, employee development and retention, people review and succession planning, and compliance with all applicable laws. In addition, the HR Manager will assist the Sr. HRBP, Plant Manager and the Corp. HR team with the implementation of strategic HR programs. This role administers a wide range of HR programs to achieve HR goals and align with the business strategies for the Brownsville, TX plant.

Compliance Leader for internal controls, EEO/VETS within Commercial Building & Infrastructure. Provide recommendations on processes to meet internal business compliance controls, create and administer auditing protocols. Lead reporting efforts:

  • Monthly, bi-monthly reports as well as reports on request
  • EEO/VETS-100/AA reports
  • Monthly headcount reporting
  • Other reporting and analysis, as needed

Act as liaison to provide counsel among the company, employees, program providers and/or government agencies, resolving issues, seeking guidance, providing information, ensuring compliance with regulations to advance overall working relationships, increase productivity, engagement, employee development and employee relations issues. Administers and optimizes various HR programs and processes to support the employee life cycle for assigned businesses.

Leads talent acquisition activities within the site.  This position is responsible for ensuring sourcing and recruiting strategies align with business plans including sourcing, screening and interviewing candidates. Facilitates new employee orientations for the site; creates advertisements and works with corporate talent acquisition team and agencies on recruitment efforts. Work closely with internal business partners and lead the annual Workforce Planning process for the plant and develop a cross-training process and matrix. The workforce planning includes succession planning and development for identified as successors. Assists managers with the development of employee IDPs. Applies organizational design methodologies to develop and implement career path plans for key roles within the organization.

Manages the process for hourly/non-exempt/exempt population in employee development through annual/mid-year Performance Reviews. Assists in the coordination/administration/recommendations of the annual merit and incentive processes in coordination with department and HR leadership. Monitors Performance Management program and recommends improvements as necessary. Ensure integrity of job descriptions and aligns position changes are within Compensation guidelines.

Provides consultative support for workforce issues while partnering with managers, supervisors and employees in areas of talent acquisition, employee relations, employee development/retention, counsel related to employee relations and development of teams and staff. Recommending training and development opportunities to address gaps identified by management, supervisors and/or employees.

IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business is required
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in a human resources role with at least 4 years in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required
  • HRIS experience
  • Well-versed in the local and national employment laws
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and has the capability to train others in new programs, policies and processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office Suite
  • Skills in reporting and analysis across multiple platforms. Advanced Excel skills including vlookup, pivot tables/charts, complex formulas

  • Ability to multi-task and maintain organization
  • Proficient with report-write tools, such as MicroStrategy, Cognos

The position is responsible for preparing shipping containers and materials for shipment; compare identifying information; count, weigh, and measure items of out-going shipment, verifying against bills of lading, invoices, or purchase orders.

  • Pack according to special customer instructions, when required.
  • Generate paperwork from QAD for shipping or receiving as appropriate.
  • When assigned to receiving responsibilities follow receiving policies and procedures.
  • Receipt, issuance and maintenance of all materials required to support production.
  • Responsible for orderly storage, tracking and maintenance of all materials in warehouse.
  • Data entry into the inventory management system for all receipts and movement of material.
  • Audit and verify counts of material.
  • Must be able to operate material handling equipment.
  • Responsible for movement of daily production materials to staging areas.
  • Load and unload trucks, store, and maintain materials at other buildings.
  • Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the shift supervisor / department manager.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
  • Must be willing to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance as well as participate as a member of team.
  • Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Must have a strong commitment to working safely.

PLC Technician

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

The incumbent is responsible for the day-to-day preventive maintenance tasks and repair of electrical power and electronic equipment, troubleshooting, instrumentation calibration, PLC programming, and assisting with any mechanical repairs. Will possess a thorough understanding and hands-on experience with electrical & electronic maintenance principles. Troubleshoot machine breakdown, repair situations, and safely restore the machine to the proper operating condition. Must adhere to all company safety policies while performing tasks, and at all times when on the premises.

Essential Functions

  • The ability to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Troubleshoot PLCs, modify or create programs, and spec new PLCs if replacement is necessary.
  • Must have a solid ability to solve machine operation problems using a skill set of deductive reasoning, and electric test meters.
  • Conducts inspections and replaces or repairs non-operational equipment and/or components of equipment that are hindering the equipment from operating efficiently.
  • Should have a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of electrical principles and adequate skills to understand various plant processes.
  • Positive working attitude toward other employees; be a team player.
  • Work with others constructively and abide by company policies and procedures.
  • Working together as a team for continuous improvement is vital to ensure the future of CertainTeed and its employees.
  • Teamwork will be required to be effective in daily maintenance assignments as well as continuous improvement projects.

PLC Reliability Responsibilities

  • Perform daily activities needed to support and comply with requirements surrounding plant maintenance activities.
  • Be on call in a rotation with the other day shift electricians.
  • Testing electrical systems and equipment using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes.
  • Rebuild components to be used on the equipment in the plant along with reading and interpreting blueprints and layout instructions and having knowledge/understanding of hydraulic/pneumatic theory. Must be able to read and understand blueprints schematics and wire control panels.
  • Must be able to write and/or modify PLC programs.
  • Will assist line mechanics and electricians as necessary when needed to support production including all of the above listed tasks and other means of support as needed.
  • Will participate in training to continue to enhance PLC skills
  • Follow all safety precautions while performing tasks at all times
  • All areas are to be clean and clear of any debris before/after maintenance days and holidays.

Environmental and Health Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all safety procedures
  • Promote a safe, accident-free, and healthy work environment
  • Report all EHS incidents – Injuries/Recordables, Near Misses, First Aid, Environmental and Property/Equipment Damage
  • Adhere to site Waste Management and Recycling policies

  • Complete daily housekeeping of Maintenance work areas as well as equipment storage areas
  • Complete required annual training for the Maintenance Department

Education and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED plus a minimum of 10 (10) years of electrical experience is preferred
  • Must have a valid forklift license and complete associated training requirements for safe operations and maintenance of forklifts (Will train if needed)
  • Must Maintain a positive rating as described in the training/qualification evaluation record as a Maintenance Electrician
  • 10 years of industrial maintenance experience is preferred
  • Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required

POSITION SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Program Summary:

 

Our 18-month development program provides participants a full-time operational role, designed to improve their manufacturing skills and exposure to Saint-Gobain North America. Participants will be located at one singular manufacturing plant for 18 months and will be involved with quarterly travel to other Saint-Gobain manufacturing sites in North America. The time split between local site projects and EOM program activities is 80:20 respectively. Classroom-based E-learnings, hands-on action-based learning in operational environments as well as a plethora of networking opportunities, are just some of the activities in place designed to accelerate your career development and future career growth. These trainings and quarterly travel opportunities are a requirement for program completion and full participation should be given, except for extenuating circumstances. While start dates for EOM program participants may vary, program activities kickoff each year in July and end 18 months later in December of the following year. Upon program completion, EOM Engineers will work with our dedicated Human Resources team to find an operational role in one of our nearly 160 sites throughout North America. While a final placement role is not guaranteed, most EOM Engineer graduates are able to choose from multiple Saint-Gobain sites for final placement offers.

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates and provide the national pay range for this position which is $68,700 to $106,300 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience

among other factors.

 

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 9% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $74,883 to $115,867. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
