Position Summary

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Engineering Co-op Student is responsible for supporting plant maintenance functions, technical documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role provides hands-on experience in equipment support, blueprint interpretation, CAD/AutoCAD documentation, and collaboration across departments including Maintenance, Operations, Production, and Continuous Improvement and Quality.

 

Key Responsabilities

Maintenance & Engineering Support

  • Support the Maintenance and Engineering departments with technical projects, equipment troubleshooting, and documentation.
  • Interpret and redraw equipment blueprints using CAD/AutoCAD; create and update technical catalogs for plant equipment.
  • Assist in developing, revising, and maintaining equipment drawings, schematics, and layouts.
  • Provide technical support for continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment reliability, safety, and efficiency.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating preventive and predictive maintenance activities.
  • Assist in developing work instructions, standard operating procedures, and maintenance documentation.

Quality Support

  • Provide technical assistance to the Quality team by collecting and organizing data related to equipment downtime, process performance, or product quality.
  • Support root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action activities when equipment issues impact product quality.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating documentation (work instructions, control plans, audit forms).
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings where quality, maintenance, and production intersect (e.g., daily production or problem-solving meetings).

General

  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Participate in equipment-related training sessions and provide technical support to operators and maintenance personnel.
  • Ensure adherence to safe work practices, plant rules, and housekeeping standards (5S).

IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?

Requirements

  • Enrolled in Mechanical, Industrial, Process, or related Engineering/Technology program and eligible for a recognized Co-op/Internship.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical/electrical systems and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficient in CAD/AutoCAD for 2D/3D drafting and interpreting technical drawings.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office; CMMS exposure is an asset).
  • Ability to read, interpret, and update technical drawings and schematics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective English communication and interpersonal skills for cross-department collaboration.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with preventive/predictive maintenance and lean manufacturing principles (e.g., 5S, Kaizen).
  • Awareness of industrial safety practices; exposure to steel processing/manufacturing is an asset.

 

Working Conditions

  • Industrial environment in a steel manufacturing facility with heavy machinery and moving equipment.
  • Physical activity includes walking, standing, climbing, and occasional lifting (up to 25–40 lbs).
  • Primarily day shift; flexibility for off-shifts or weekends may be required.

  • Maintain high standard of quality while picking and organizing product for shipment 
  • Operates Jungheinrich material handling equipment in a safe and efficient manner following the prescribed work methods
  • Completing equipment inspections daily and documenting findings on the GemOne touch screen system
  • Follow the Saint-Gobain golden Rules of safety and all OSHA standards, reporting concerns to the Supervisor

Requirements

  • 1 + Years of relevant work experience in a warehouse setting 
  • Must display a high level of accuracy, initiative and dependability with a good attendance record
  • Ability to pass OSHA approved Jungheinrich material handling equipment certification
  • Familiarity with voice picking and/or radio frequency equipment is beneficial 
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to modest amounts of heat, cold, dust, noise and vibrations

Essential Functions

  • Will lead in administering the flow of the inbound receiving dock to ensure the safe and accurate receipt of inbound product
  • Train, mentor and support team to foster high-performance while meeting KPI’s
  • Perform daily transportation scheduling via Transportation Management System for inbound receiving.
  • Steer compliance for safety practices and procedures including housekeeping, 5S, safety team meetings/training, incident reporting and assisting in investigations
  • Uses proper annotation and documentation of quality errors, miss-shipments, incorrect labeling, or other issues pertaining to materials.
  • Perform Jungheinrich powered industrial truck (PIT) equipment training to train others in a safe and efficient manner. Specifically, Rider Reach Forklift (RR), Stock Picker Forklift (SP), Rider Counterbalance (RC), Tugger (TR)

Requirements

  • 1 + Years Experience as a Team Lead in a warehouse setting, preferred
  • 3 + Years Experience in the Inbound department of a warehouse in lieu of, required
  • 1 + Years Experience with various forklift equipment, specifically Rider Reach Forklift, Stock Picker Forklift, Rider Counterbalance Forklift, Tugger, preferred
  • Two years’ experience in performing adjustments within SAP and JDA.
  • Knowledge of JDA/Blue Yonder, Microstrategy
  • Must have a general understanding of DC operations to include Inbound operations, returns processing, receiving transactions tracing in both JDA/SAP, inventory adjustments, outbound processing, picking, replenishment, and inventory control processes.
  • Basic understanding of Lean and continuous improvement techniques
  • Knowledge of inventory control processes and functionality across the distribution center
  • Willingness to work in a non-temperature-controlled area, both hot and cold as trailers are at outside temperature when pulled in for loading or unloading
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs consistently, up to 50 lbs occasionally

Profil recherché

  • Baccalauréat en domaine technique ou expérience équivalente avec forte compréhension des principes Lean/WCM.
  • 6 à 8 ans d’expérience en fabrication, ingénierie des procédés ou projets techniques.
  • Solide connaissance des outils WCM : amélioration ciblée, TPM, qualité, contrôle statistique, 5S, travail standardisé.
  • Expérience en gestion du changement et en supervision, idéalement en milieu syndiqué.
  • Leadership, influence et excellentes compétences en communication.
  • Maîtrise de Microsoft Office
  • Bilingue français/anglais*.

Les responsabilités

  • Traiter plusieurs paies horaires conformément aux lois fédérales et provinciales, aux conventions collectives applicables, et veiller au respect des contrôles internes.
  • Préparer les paies et les calculs spéciaux aux fins du traitement des paies.
  • Superviser la paie des employés horaires et salariés pour les usines syndiquées et non syndiquées, et assurer la liaison avec les administrateurs d'usine et les centres de distribution afin de fournir du soutien et de téléverser les données de temps et de présence d'UKG vers PeopleSoft.

  • Préparer les entrées de journal de fin de mois et passer en revue les provisions mensuelles au besoin.
  • Assurer la liaison avec les contrôleurs d'usine concernant l'incidence sur les écarts de main-d'œuvre et fournir le soutien nécessaire au besoin.
  • Effectuer les rapprochements mensuels du grand livre général liés à la paie au besoin.
  • Traiter des relevés d'emploi (RE) pour les congés, les licenciements et les retraites.
  • Traiter les demandes de paiement liées aux cotisations REER, aux saisies sur salaire et aux cotisations syndicales.
  • Assurer la déclaration aux organismes provinciaux de santé et sécurité au travail et préparer les déclarations annuelles dans l'ensemble des provinces.
  • Répondre aux demandes des employés concernant les détails et les calculs de paiement.
  • Surveiller les paiements d'invalidité de courte durée conformément aux conventions collectives et aux politiques, en s'assurant que les modalités de paiement sont respectées.
  • Calculer et superviser le paiement des indemnités de départ, des compléments de congé de maternité, de maintien du salaire et des avantages imposables, conformément aux politiques de l'entreprise et à la législation gouvernementale.

CE TRAVAIL VOUS CONVIENT-IL?

POSITION SUMMARY: This position is designed to accomplish goals of the organization by the judicious application of knowledge and experience in implementation and management of a complete plant Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) program for the Charleston, SC facility, to minimize all safety risks and reduce potential liabilities. NATURE & SCOPE of POSITION:  Environmental Health and Safety site manager inspects and evaluates the environment, equipment, and processes in working areas to ensure compliance with government safety regulations and industry standards. Their chief goal is to protect the employees, customers, and the environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead implementation of EHS policies, procedures and safety incentives to continually improve safety
  • Manage plant proactive EHS processes: Gensuite, TF3, TF-4, TF-5, EvE as well as 4orms implementation and maintenance
  • Monitors Federal, State and Local standards and regulations; recommends required new programs/elements to management and the EHS Committee
  • Ensure site internal SG EHS standards, requirements and external (ISO14001) requirements are met by the site
  • Implements and leads EHS pillar, updates KPI’s and monitors performance
  • Ensure all employee safety training requirements are met
  • Perform and maintain periodically updated Risk Assessments for routine and non-routine tasks performed by the workforce

  • Evaluates environmental impact of all projects and determines appropriate mitigation measures
  • Lead in the investigations of any safety related incidents and ensure prompt corrective actions are implemented
  • Actively participates in the daily production meetings
  • Manage EHS calendars with periodic review
  • Coordinate with management to schedule periodic maintenance and upgrade activities to environmental control and safety equipment
  • Provides leadership and direction to the EHS Tech
  • Willingness to work odd hours or shifts as needs arise

Scope: Setup, control, and run slitter equipment and inspect product, according to standard operating procedures and work instructions.

  • Set up and run Slitting equipment according to SOPs and work orders and/or special instruction form supervisor.
  • Visually observe, troubleshoot, and report non-conformance conditions (either product or process) to supervisor, or manager as required.

Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
